“Mowatt takes the corner, Diaby rises at the far post, oh and it’s Woodrow who puts it in! Daniel Stendel and Chris Stern are on the pitch, it’s a last minute winner at Wembley, Sunderland are in the premier league!”
I know it's proper lazy journalism to link players of a manager's former club, but do they not know he has no say in transfers, allegedly.
The manager needs announcing first. .This we're a massive club thing will need knocking on the head though as I really dont think he'll ll give a toss. And what Sunderland fans fail to see is it's that attitude that makes any manager fail. Yes some of their fans want him but most want a name.
Seems a section of their fans will be against him as hes a "grass" re. Joey Barton. He will get other offers so I hope he's thought this one through.
I don't agree Redhelen, I think he would be a very popular choice, many supporters I know have him as their preferred pick. There's always a few people want names that are completely unachievable but the majority know we have to cut our cloth accordingly and he is a lot of people's first choice.
Well I hope you appreciate him like we do. He s down to earth so I really cant see him being in awe of a so called big club but I do know he'll do his best and give a lot to your club.
The fact that they think he just carried on from where Hecky left off shows they know nothing about him. Just learning the language and getting the team playing his way would have been a very good season but he developed young players, gave others their confidence and the community a load of his time And then of course the little matter of automatic promotion whilst unbeaten at hone and conceding the least goals and scoring the same as Sunderland I think?
He's who I'm praying we get if he's interested plus we are supposed to be considering 5 or 6 so hopefully our process picks the right man.
Gareth Ainsworth 5/6 on for the Sunderland job. Stendel drifted out to 10-1. https://www.thesackrace.com/teams/sunderland Edit, Ainsworth has now been given permission to speak to Sunderland. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50013438
Personally think Stendel would be best having a couple of months off. He was clearly emotionally invested in Barnsley so would do well to recharge before going again in my opinion, I'd imagine he'll probably go back to Germany for a bit now anyway.
AS long as they dont express an interest in Daniel - I could wish him well if he goes to Sunderland - or most other clubs to be fair but there are a handful I never want to win a single game - Millwall is one of them
If as rumoured his legal team are involved over his sacking, would be surprised if he jumped straight into a job.
