If you’re reading this, just know that you’re an absolute disgrace. You don’t know what you’re doing. Everybody could see that massive mistakes in the summer as they were happening, but you didn’t know enough to even realise. You’ve got no business running a football club so just get lost! I’ve never been so disheartened as a reds fan. I genuinely don’t see the point of supporting the club any more, as there’s just no hope that you lot will ever let us build a competitive team. I’m currently grieving for what was formerly my main obsession, but is now just a mild disappointment every few days when we lose. What a sad state of affairs.
Seconded Fella - I travel 220 miles every home game and have done it faithfully through both good and bad but tbh cannot be bothered on Saturday to watch another defeat!
400 for me and I will be there on Saturday. Though I didn’t watch today’s defeat. Not coming just for the game though
After faithfully supporting for decades I have been reduced to a quick look at team sheet before game and half time and full time score. Don’t want to watch highlights, press conferences, nothing
Here's an analogy. I travel to the USA as executive of an American football team although I have no real interest or knowledge about the game . I am in charge of player recruitment but have the remit from the owners that I have to make sure the club makes money first and foremost. It's a business and selling the club's assets is the main source of income despite what effect this has on the moral team and supporters. The team have just won promotion to the NFL thanks to the efforts of the head coach and team. After selling on three of the teams best players despite the protestations of the head coach and supporters after15 games the team is on 1 in 15 and the supporters are very unhappy as is the headcoach. Well that's tough sh_t. I am not out to please the supporters just the owners. After selling the teams assets , the owners have made back their investment with interest so time for us to sell up and move on. The owners are pleased so I have succeeded in their opinion. After all the supporters are just mushrooms really, so I keep them in the dark and feed them on sh_t now and again. Seeyall
I am with you totally BUT what is the difference between the way CONway and Murphy are running the club and the way Cryne ran it - they are just continuing with the same model - selling off assets and failing to re-invest properly. It slightly confuses me as to how the new "owners" are vilified and St Patrick is a deemed to be a deity. He may have "saved" us, but he also sold players at the wrong time regularly - Winnall, Hourihane, Roberts, as well as Vaz Te. Selling Vaz Te was the end of Hill, as selling Pinock, Lindsay and Moore was the end of Stendel.
Patrick put in over £6m of his own money and personally underwrote the bank debt. The ownership models are similar but Patrick put his own money on the line and ultimately tried to get football success.
The only money that Patrick got was for the sale of the club. His loans of over £6m were repaid, If you care to look at the accounts of OakwellHoldings, this implies that the loan plus a further £4m in £1m a year instalments was the price paid for the 80% holding. If you are suggesting the current owners have the same motivation as Patrick then I firmly disagree. There may have been mistakes over his tenure but the objective was always to deliver on the pitch within the club's budget. This is now secondary.
Since I've been based on the Space Station, Satdi's have been a right old trek for me lately and I've clocked up some right air miles. So that's it for me for a while. I'll stay up here where there is a bit more of an atmosphere.
Ah, so that was you that got off at the half way house. I was saying to my fellow passenger Zlog that you could’ve walked it in the time it took to launch and disembark
Massive respect to all the folk who travel over hundred mile to get to oakwell in our current state, fair play to ya. I’m only 6 mile away and I’m struggling to motivate myself, I will still be there mind. Hoping for somthing other than leaving at 70 minutes again like that last home game.
I'm so far away that I can only watch games on my spondulating wobbledish empfanging box. It's VHTYFG quality, and the commentary is perfectly synchronised with the video, but sadly the laws of physics dictate that there's a large delay before I receive the transmission. I've just finished watching us draw 2-2 with Tranmere. WTF was Roy Ironside playing at?
Genuine question, where did the money come from to buy the club? Was that not from the new owners(borrowed or not)?
