I was having thoughts about not liking football in general any more anyway. The sport i love is so weighted in favour of the big clubs it just seems pointless - but then something happens that briefly restores faith. I’m not going on Saturday. After that, i don't know. BFC is part of my identity too. I just can’t find the enthusiasm to go at the moment.
I haven't been for months now and I won't be returning. The worst part is that I don't miss any of it, it's not BFC anymore. Protests are needed, one needs to be organised. We need the national press to get hold of what they've done to the club and let them do more digging.
I never thought I'd see the day when I pulled a sickie to get out of going to a football match. Work any time, football you've got to be kidding. A normally flaky mate still wants to go, hence the need for an excuse, so it doesn't put him off permanently. I have genuinely got a chest infection, but it wouldn't have stopped me in the past.
And it does need to be properly organised, rather than loads of people shouting 'sack the board', it needs to be well planned.
I agree ref might as well have blown up after they scored, we were only saved from embarrassment by the keeper.
I will be going to but out of habit rather than in the hope of seeing the team get a second win in this disaster of a season . I've been watching the reds since 1968 and the teams of the early 1970s were worse believe me and when ee eent into administration too was worrying. But the owners were at least fans of the club and went to see the matches and in Arnold Dennis's case turn up to watch the reserves. But it's the present owners that worry me most at the moment as they are certainly not fans of the club and have no loyalty to our club or fans. They have shown a willingness to sell the better players whatever the consequences starting with Bradshaw, Potts,Pinnock, Lyndsey etc giving a variety of reasons to cover themselves and no doubt will do with the likes of Woodrow and Mowatt. They are not willing to alter or adapt the 'Plan' to try to eliviate the situation .It's a bit like following the sat nav even though it is sending you over a cliff. But the greatest indicator was the dismissal of a head coach who got promotion and not even thanking him for his efforts and then create a smoke screen as to why he and the club 'seperated'. It's not good being a reds fan at the moment and it may get worse before it gets beter but Barnsley FC will still be around when they have long gone.
Like many I just can’t get motivated, I’m so disappointed with this board they clearly don’t give a flying about the club ir the support. The all new matchday experience never materialized and the club is in freefall, they’ll be half the gates in league 1. Still undecided about tomorrow, used to look forward to it.
Agreed. I understand all those who talk about legacy handed down and all that but this is not in any way the same club. It is a franchise nursery masquerading under the banner of Barnsley Football Club.
organised and publicised non attendance or leavings specific match would do it unfortunately solidarity and football fans rarely mix.
Whilst I understand you’re logic over the listing over the items the reality is it comes down to 2 things 1) Transfer policy 2) Communication 1) Currently after 1 really bad transfer window they can’t show any changes until January and given the fact they hadn’t really done anything poor in the previous 3 they should be allowed the time to demonstrate a change in attitude in Jan. 2) This however they have no excuse over and should be working much harder on their communication skills(or lack of)
I agree. In order to start to move this from being an idea to something firm, how about we start with a walk-out on Saturday 14th V QPR. I favour doing it whilst the match is being played (as opposed to HT) as it's more visible, maybe after 60 minutes. The other benefit of doing a walk-out first is that others might join in on the day. We could contact the local (press, radio etc in advance to inform them what's happening and then perhaps attend a local pub afterwards (Mount) to explain why and give views. I suspect national press wouldn't at first be interested, that could come later. Like others have said on another thread, I drive 100 miles to Oakwell but we need to start to take action. Would any of you support this and get involved?
The second longest run without a win in our history. Course that’s putting some off coming. Natural. The rest is just noise. Results are the be all.
What would you be protesting about and why would this particular kind of protest be the way to go? I’m intrigued, honestly.
That's a fair question JTR and it deserves to be fully answered, particularly if there is to be some sort of protest. I want to do it properly but have a number of commitments today so it won't be until later on. In the meantime I just want to acknowledge it rather than you thinking I'm ignoring you........ Edit: Obviously it will also be my subjective view. Others may have different ones.
Due to the awful string of results and other commitments, I’ve not been since the first game against Fulham. I am seriously thinking about going tomorrow as I have a completely free Saturday for once. I don’t think I have ever agonised so long and hard about going. Even when we were bottom of L1 in 2015, I went, when we only won 4 games before New Year in the 80s I went (I wish we’d “only” won 4 this season!).
We need a plane flying over the ground pulling a banner on the next televised game. I’m sure the cameras would show it.
