I don't think anyone sees adverts inside the paper as a problem. Front page splashes can be (mis)interpreted as endorsement from the paper of a political party.
Wooh easy tiger, I never once said the Brexit party was good or bad for the Town, I pointed out that Barnsley is not like many assume I.e "red rosette on a goat" type of thing. I then went onto say about my ex father in law, I never said he's voting Brexit ( if he was then good on him, it's his right to vote for whoever he feels fit) read my post again chap, read it slow you will see I wasnt insinuating anything, cheers
Whoever gets the cheque book out first gets the front page. You can if you want. Use it to flog your motor... your wife. .. There wouldnt be half the fuss/hassle if any had the front page had an advert that supported the OPs political views... And lets be right we both know the Labour party in the Barnsley Wards will not bother with anything other than a token gesture within the local media because barring a political miracle/disaster the results here are cast in stone.
Last week’s Chronicle purchase was my last. Money or not, they have a responsibility to the local area.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seemed to me by your post that you were framing it as relief that there’s finally what you and your dad would perceive to be a valid alternative to labour.
I'll correct you BR, I pointed out that Barnsley politically wise is not like it used to be, as I said the "red rosette on a goat" thing, I gave an example of my ex Father in Law who as voted Labour in every election since he was 18, he's now into is 70s but will this time give the Party a miss and will vote or not vote in the election, i said if he votes Brexit then it's up to him, i never bigged up the Brexit party but said it's his, yours, mine, whoever to vote for a party we want, that's it, no more no less
The Chronic probably barely breaks even these days. They’d take money from the EDL if they paid enough.
After all, what Torys have done to the mining districts and miners over the years your father in law as an ex-miner wants to be ashamed of himself if he votes Tory or the Far-right Brexit party.
God knows who he his voting for, it certainly wont be the Conservatives, I dont know tbh if he is voting at all, he did I believe vote to leave in the referendum so he could well be voting Brexit ( I dont know) if he does then I dont think he as anything to be ashamed of, but of course it's all opinions UTC.
Well it might not be popular, but although many see them as racist they are still a legal party liked by some and as we live in a democracy they have the right to advertise. As for the Chronicle, it is so obviously not the actual front page (it even says so on the top) and business is tough out there they are a local paper serving the community and as such they must be struggling in the current economical climate so probably needevery pound that they can realise.
Well it would do well to have a front page that supports my views because I dont actually support any of the political parties and think all have major flaws. I would have made the post if it had been a Tory Labour Lib Dem or even Green party advert taking over the entire front page. It just doesnt feel right for a local newspaper to not have local news on its front page but instead a full page political advert - no matter which party - or in this case Company is being advertised.
Advertising is one thing. But a wraparound like this gives the very strong impression that the Chronicle endorses this party - which it may well do for all I know. I find it totally unacceptable that the main local newspaper can whore itself to such a vile and divisive grouping. I hope it goes to the wall.
