#barnsleyfc have not yet received any notification from the FA re Bambo Diaby’s case. Andy Giddings Nice that Giddings, not our own club can keep us posted.
Could we persuade the EFL to immediately deduct 21 points each from Derby, Fowls and Birmingham, then add them back on next season if they were found innocent of all charges?
If he’s found guilty and gets a lengthy ban does the club stand to lose what they’ve invested in him in transfer fee, wages etc? Doesn’t seem right if that’s the case.
These things are usually kept quiet , the player left out then sold to some unsuspecting club desperate to bring in a Gary O’Connor / player
Indeed, let’s just file it with the no explanation as to why our last manager was fired, and non communication regarding transfer window. Add to that our invisible board, and CEO and it’s all perfectly normal, as you were, fans really don’t need to know what’s going on, kind of thing. Meanwhile a player of ours is out for an indeterminate amount of time with no real explanation from anyone as to what he’s done or when he’s being trialled.
To be fair, they have kept us posted. An oft used and legitimate method of releasing information is via the media. That's why we give pre match interviews every week. In this one we told Andy Giddings there's no further information. How often should we announce there's nothing to announce? Every week? Every day? If there's nothing to add, waiting until we're asked and confirming that is OK in my opinion. When the club hear they'll let us know. (Hopefully, although I suspect it may be leaked before they get the chance.)
My understanding is that if there's any suggestion that the player has been taking medication that may have triggered an adverse result then the player is free to carry on playing. I read recently that a number of PL players have been in this situation.
I think the club have acted correctly and I applaud their approach. They could have let him play but I think it would have been the wrong thing to do. It's not a case of guilty until proven innocent, it's taking a young kid out of the media glare and it's showing respect to our opponents and the process. If Diaby is innocent he'll come back a better player.
Agreed. I've always said it that players subject to serious disciplinary action should be suspended during the investigation like in other places of work. My only issue here is with how long it takes to progress with the investigation which surely must be clear cut. Either he failed or he passed a drugs test. After that it must just be the player presenting any mitigation
