Aye, all in my own time using my own internet paid for by myself as an independent person. You'll notice the difference in situations between and Struber
I mean at senior level. Quite a few Wimbledon fans expressed surprise that he was being talked about as a centre-half.
I do notice the difference between what you say about Andersen and what he does. It seems that your approach to life is that you can be as disrespectful as you like as long you're paying for the privilege of it. Fair enough.
I don't particularly care what Struber has said. I don't think it's that bad to be honest. I care more that he continued to select Andersen and asked him to play in a way that he was struggling with. That wasn't good for the team or the player. Andersen's major limitation this season has been getting caught in possession and giving the ball away (some of his defending has been OK). So to continue to ask him to receive the ball in his own area and play it out from the back seems like madness to me. It was setting him up to fail, continually asking him to perform a task that is not in his skill set. That's been our manager's failure, not this interview. Although criticising Andersen when Struber has seen he struggles with aspects of the game, yet still instructs him to play that way seems a bit rich. And his diamond is a fake, it's just glass.
Totally respect Mads. Fair enough, struggled a bit with no leadership but let's not forget at 21yo he was bossing Fulham on his English debut. When I was 21 I drove a forklift for a living and still wanked into a sock.
I disagree. Firstly, Giddings shouldn't have had the opportunity to ask the question because he should have been rested several weeks ago. And secondly, as Red Helen suggests below, he could have just said something like "we're a team, we win as a team or we lose as a team. Conversations with individual players stay behind closed doors".
I think it was Giddings who specifically mentioned Mads Anderson so he brought the subject up. Personally I think leaving out MaDS will do him good in the end. I can remember Marc Roberts being rested, Pinnock did not get straight into the side and play the whole season when he first joined us, Lynsey was'rested'too in favour of Jackson . If you wan to go back further Mick Mc Carthy was once dropped by Norman Hunter. So giving a player so young as Mad Anderson who let's face it has dropped some monumental clangers this season and cost us lots of points might do him good in the long run . I imagine the other players must be as pissed off as we were when his errors (along with others to be fair)have cost us points. Even both goalkeepers passing the ball out only for it to be intercepted and lashed back in meant they have been rested in some matches. So resting or dropping players has resulted in them coming back stronger.
I hate singling out players and despise the boo boys (and girls) who give any Red a hard time at Oakwell. Andersen may surprise many of us and turn into an asset. But at the time of writing he has been massively over-promoted playing in the Championship. He's currently a long, long way short of that level. I'd also say the same for Halme. Not their fault. But the reason we are heading out of this league is because we have had zippo quality in the rearguard.
He said the first part but not the second and imo by virtue of what he went on to say effectively negated the words he'd just used
I've written in another thread about the Danish Superliga - they play 26 games over a 37-38 week season with a 6 week winter break. What chance has the lad got coming into a new country, team, language and playing none stop pretty much against the quality of the Championship strikers. No wonder he makes mistakes, it looks cr4p but I think it's all a mental thing. Same with all of the players signed from Europe - they simply aren't used to playing twice a week in every kind of weather for 9 months. Couple that with the British players we signed all being inexperienced in senior football and it's no wonder we are where we are. Side note though - signing experienced players doesn't always work either - see Luton
Sorry to be pedantic but having listened to the interview again in detail Struber does not slag any of his players off not Anderson not Odour. He's asked about players mistakes and in my opinion he was very compassionate about young players and maybe the reasons for making mistakes. He generalised more than picking on individuals. 3.25 minutes in Struber says "we win as a team and lose as a team".
I'm going to be pedantic right back. Does he not say the following: "change these players who always make these mistakes" and "sometimes it's better you go one or two steps back and I think it's time for that now" and "the situation with our centre backs is not a surprise" and is it obvious that he's talking specifically about Andersen? But irrespective, he exposed Andersen by leaving him in the side for too long. He should've been rested several weeks ago and then we wouldn't be having this conversation now.
Leaving him in the side too long is perhaps true all the other stuff is down to interpretation .I didn't hear one single thing where he had a go at Anderson or any other players. For me Struber was quite guarded answering an awkward question.I though he protected his players quite well.We all know in life taking 2 steps is a well reasoned and sensible approach.
