In the last council elections a group calling themselves The Veterans and Democrats Party had two candidates elected to Barnsley Council. One of them was Victoria Fenton who claims to be Independent but stood as a Brexit Party Candidate against Dan Jarvis in the December GE. How many political parties can you be a member of? No doubt the Veteran's name in the party title picked them up enough votes to get elected. What many people don't know is the Veterans and Democrat Party are an breakaway group from UKIP. So if you vote Veterans and Democrats Party in May's local elections you are getting UKIP in disguise. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democrats_and_Veterans https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rees-Evans
Excellent! The guy who once stated a gay donkey raped his horse leads a political party that some people in Barnsley have elected to public office. There’s definitely evidence of a lack of critical thinking.
Their election flyer says Barnsleys labour Council still supports open doors immigration and a vote for them would stop it. Strange because the last time I looked Barnsley Council whether it be labour controlled or not had absolutely no say in the immigration policy of the UK. Yet more misinformation spread by a set of right wing nutters pretending to be the friend of the working man.
The Veterans and Democrats party are an extreme Right wing grouping. They are not a political party and have no policies. Membership consists of disaffected, people who are also supporters and members of other Far Right parties, from the EDL,Combat 18,BNP,NF,UKIP. It's a sense of shame that the people of Monk Bretton elected a Fascist to Barnsley council. By the way, last year this party wrote letters to lots of MPs offices, threatening to kill staff if they didn't vote for Brexit.
Don't sit on the fence mate, say it how you think it is. According to Wikipedia, it is a political party. Victoria Felton I believe is local to Monk Bretton and also ex forces and add to that locals feeling let down by the Labour Party I can see reasons for her getting voted in. She didn't get my vote but you ought to remember there was a strong Brexit vote for leave in the Barnsley area . Again not my view but surely and indication of local feelings. I have met Victoria and yet to see anything that suggests she is a fascist.
Looks like she was actually elected as an independent. So far it's ringing a lot of alarm bells for me.
This Victoria Fenton may say to your face anything, that's how these right-wing politicians get into power as for being ex-forces what difference does that make, you also say that locals have been let down by the Labour party FFS Labour left office in 2010 it's now 2020 and don't come back with the local labour party as their budget has been cut by your Tory Party ( and you are a Tory or you would not print such rubbish) with the ridicules austerity cuts.
Lot of resentment in Monk Bretton, village I grew up in, women afraid to walk the streets, shop keepers eyes in the back of their heads. Used to be a decent village now its like Page Hall in Sheffield. Still, diversity eh.
Well I have never been called one of them before, you certainly know how to kick a bloke in the ******. For what its worth I never said that labour had let locals down, I said they felt let down. There is a significant difference. How did she get elected in and labour lose? I will leave you to ponder that one.
Not getting brexit done plus the realisation that even when brexit IS done they still won't have got rid of them moooslims they thought they were getting rid of.
What are you suggesting? Monk Bretton is now full of immigrant rapists and shoplifters? Can you elaborate please?
Ok then, I was born and brought up on Kendray estate as a kid and teenager during the 60s and 70s. Kendray was not known as a bad place to live, places like Lundwood and Grimethorpe had the rough reputation. During the 80s Kendray became known as probably the roughest and most inhospitable places to live and visit. I know a lot of this was exaggerated whilst at the same time I acknowledge that it wasn’t the place I grew up in where there was an abundance of respect, politeness and comaraderie. Oh yes, there were the rough arses but we’re very much in the minority. Now the point I’m making is the people who were causing the trouble, breaking the law and generally giving the place a bad name we’re locals, not from other ethnicities or countries. You make it sound like a Monk Bretton’ s problems are purely down to ‘others’ and not locals. Perhaps, Barnsley Council weren’t listening or giving credence to the right- wing rhetoric that some, like yourself do. Probably because it suits to think that way
When politicians don’t listen to the concerns of the people living in these areas and dismiss the concerns as being based on race then thats when folk turn to the parties who do listen.
