Not going to argue with you there. I will admit though (don't tell anyone) that I actually don't hate meadowhall. My wife isn't a slow shopper though, so that helps enormously I'm sure.
Can’t see anything other than cancellation tbh. Some players contracts run out as soon as original season ends . It’s gonna depend on a lot of goodwill from players and agents to extend season and I can’t see that forthcoming imo.
Kicking it in to the long grass. I'm sure I heard yesterday that they don't expect peak infection for another 10 weeks or so.
Massive can of worms opened up. There will be clubs in relegation places not wanting to play thinking they might stay up. There will be clubs in midtable that don't give a toss. Likewise those doing well chomping at the bit to get back.
Think it is almost certain that the Euros will be moved to next year and the domestic seasons will be extended. Players contracts dont officially expire until 30 June I think, so as long as they can complete before then it avoids contract issues. If the situation hasn't gone away by April then the season will be cancelled.
I think that's the end of the season. No chance football coming back when the number of cases is actually going to be far higher in April. Only two options to my mind a) the season never happened and is scrubbed b) the concluding games are shunted to the start of a new season, with a short break for fixtures to be sorted, than a quick resume.
I'm wondering what happens to the transfer window? (In the event that games can resume at some point, which is by no means certain.)
I've already convinced my wife that Meadowhall will be a whirlpool, a cesspit of infection. Start work on it NOW unless you want to spend all your free time endlessly gaping at stuff in shops
Well they surely can’t award the titles / promotions etc on an incomplete season? Teams in the PL haven’t even played the same amount of games. Got to say I’d actually feel sorry for Sheffield United, but for Leeds and Liverpool I’d have a little sneaky chuckle. I honestly can’t see how they will complete the season.
I bet Sky are shitting themselves! God knows what they are going to fill all their channels with over the coming weeks. People playing tiddly winks in hazmat suits?
But the Government's plan is to drag this out over a longer period of time, so that the peak isn't too high. If this season is to be completed, then the Euros will have to be cancelled altogether. Finish this season in July, start next season in September / October.
