Pretty sure most people agreed with offloading Wilks back then.. Owners can't win with some folk though.
With the form Wilkes has shown and the goals scored for Hull. It was easy to see that he could keep Hull up at Barnsley's expense and I fear that will happen even with Wigan being docked points along with Wednesday. Absolutely disgraceful decision to let him go, even my 10 year old grandson saw this coming.
You have to be in the right place to kick off with at the right time. Plus it wasn't a tap in - it was a smart finish. So unless you're Robbie Fowler or some such, you wouldn't havre finished like that. Nevertheless, we did the right thing in getting rid of him. The pathetic dive or two did it for me.
If they weren’t contractually obliged then yes but it doesn’t sound that way to me as club are saying terms were met in January . January were in promotion hunt and I can remember a thread that said Malik would help take point from our rivals for Hull , the words agent Wilkes was used in one post .
Contractual terms only exist if both parties agree to them. The only reason Hull had an option to buy was that Barnsley Football Club agreed to it. I’m not here to defend the board but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Offloading a player on a four year contract that wasn’t in the manager’s plans and getting a fee didn’t seem terrible at the time If we do go down it will be due more to the whole season than one last minute goal from an ex player. It just seems particularly rubbish tonight.
He might get sent off and banned for 3 games next game. I imagine probably one of our top earners and didn’t fit our style of play. Don’t think we could afford to keep him here tbh.
No he is terrible.. Lazy, can't defend, bad attitude, could get sent to prison, we have better players on our books. Its a complete over reaction as usual from folk when he scores a single goal. I'd be surprised if he gets another.. Just glad we are shut of him. Its all in our hands!!! You reds..
Incorrect. We play Stoke next, win that we go above them. EFL already said 12 points off for Wigan, so that's is them on 38.. So we win ours and we are out of bottom 3 regardless.
Neither do I.. I don't care that we sold him to Hull either... The board didn't have a crystal ball when the deal was struck. They had that option to buy!! Plus I certainly don't think he adds anything to their team. He scored a lucky goal. Just saw the replay again, literally stuck a leg out having being offside from the previous ball into the box.. just pure luck that he was on the end of it.. In our own hands.. have faith in what our team does not what Malik Wilks has done in 1 match.
You're all missing the point, our position in the league pyramid is of secondary importance to the policy of buying then selling footballers for profit it's as simple as that. The boards plan of running the club as a player retailer doesn't depend on our league position it depends on a constant flow of players in and out.
No brainer. Solbauer every time.. Somehow people have it in their minds that Malik Wilks has lost all his poor qualities overnight..
Theresa lot of hindsight in some of these posts . Yes you shouldn’t sell to relegation rivals but the way he played for us he was more likely to sabotage Hull than win a game for them. Anyway they are at WBA on Sat so realistically they should get nowt there.
