    I was speaking to a friend of mine yesterday after the match and he made some interesting comments...

    He seemed to think certain players aren't getting a look in because they have appearance bonuses in their contract.

    He seemed to think Walton was suddenly number 1 because the other two keepers get paid more if they play.

    Oduor he thinks must be the same as he was one of our better players before lockdown and he couldnt understand why Chaplin wasn't starting every game.

    I don't think we would do that especially in the position we are but thought I'd share as it's interesting what stuff gets thrown about regarding Barnsley sometimes.

    Based on what though? We signed him as a player who hadn’t made a first team appearance. He’s not had his breakthrough year but he’ll want that to happen next season. No reason that shouldn’t be with us.

    He’s a talent, but he’s had two or three awful games too. As you’d expect with young players. That’s why you can’t rely on XI of them

    There might be some truth in it somewhere but I doubt it - I think Walton was #1 because Collins was injured and Radlinger was going, and he has played well enough to keep the shirt. I do wonder if Ritzmaier has something in his contract that he has to play if fit though. Clearly something is behind Oduor not starting outside football talent but I have no idea what

    No Conspiracy there imo appearance money is far inferior to what we lose if we go down .
    Team selection is Strubers and considering the chances we’ve had of scoring in last two games in which we’ve created enough chances to win six games .

    Odour has made 16 appearances, it would be strange to have 17 as a milestone
    Collins 22 again 23 is odd
    Chaplin has started 36 games. 37 makes no sense


    It's simply down to the manager picking his favourites

    I think maybe he's just not disciplined enough to play in the system that Struber wants. Only thing I can think of.

    If my memory of him playing is correct, we could certainly use him to take set pieces. Seem to remember him putting in some of the only ones this season that looked in the least threatening.

    I would imagine they all have appearance bonuses in their contracts. When it gets difficult for clubs on a tight budget, which will be the case for every club right now, is that some contracts include a clause that after a certain amount of appearances wages can be substantially increased.

    Not suggesting that is the case here, I have no idea, but it has occurred at other clubs, Sheffield Wednesday being a prime example.

    Wasn't part of the reason we didn't play Mark Stallard more was because it would have triggered an appearance related increase in his wages.

    Actually, thinking about it, it might have been because it triggered an additional payment to his previous club.

    Thinking about it further it might just have been because he was crap.

    I must admit, when Killian got wiped out yesterday and Ben Williams started warming up, I had a fleeting thought that this could be the case with Oduor but the thought didn’t last long but now seeing this thread, it’s reminded me.

    I cannot for the life of me understand why Oduor isn’t getting game time. If anything else, he’s the only person I’ve seen this season to put corners in with any real quality.

    But sat watching while been kept out by the William's sisters must be hard to take.
    Same as midfielders watching while ritzmaier gets a game every week must cause some unrest. Callum styles is young but he must have been fuming when he came on changed the game against blackburn after the game when interviewed said hope I've done enough to start v stoke then was dropped like a stone.

    I don't think there is any truth in this theory. I'm no fan of our owners but I don't believe even they would stop our manager picking his best team just to save a few grand when relegation will cost so much more.

    My theory is we're **** and deserve to go down. Struber will probably have a clause that will allow him to go back to Austria skiing along with Sollbauer and Ritzcracker. Mowatt and Woodrow will be sold pre-season and we'll have to use Palmer and Styles in central midfield next season with Oduor and J.Williams as attacking wing backs.

    How long has solbauer signed a contract for? Cant see him wanting to play in league one but would be good if we could keep him.
    Like you say I think brown, woodrow and mowatt will be sold we have already got some money in for wilkes (probley back what we paid) cant see us spending any money the club have already said it's going to be a struggle financially. Not expecting us to bounce back next season unless we sign some quality in every department and a striker who can hold the ball up.
