I know it was great what happened in the Forest and Brentford games but up until then, there were some myself included that wouldn't care one way or the other. I don't see him as hot property at all.
Wobschall is exactly right about needing to show ambition. The interview Murphy did on Radio Sheff (I think) wasn’t particularly confidence inspiring. Saying we only need to bring in reinforcements. If they can’t or won’t bring in even one player to improve the first 11, he won’t stick around long.
No idea. They have a contract of employment very similar to footballers though, in the sense that their contract has to be paid up by their employer, or approaching clubs have to pay a fee to take them. I’m sure, via agents, the communication takes place for both players and managers anyway.
Looks like " paper talk" at the moment. I'm hoping that Gerhard opts to finish what he's started at Oakwell instead of being shown the door at Watford if things initially don't go to plan. They've had around seven managers in five years which should ring some alarm bells.
They gave Morais 13 and Stendel 11 matches in the Championship. Depending on the remit I'd say Struber will be no different.
The other guy has no job currently after leaving his old post, we got Struber who was well regarded having managed in Europa League so can't be that far-fetched if it was to happen.
I know who might be interested. He’s recently lost his job at a high-end Championship club. Step forward Mr Lee Johnson
Good luck to him if he gets the job. I’d be sorry to lose him. I realise it’s loads of dosh but there’s more to life. I wouldn’t wish Watford on anyone, no way he will be left to get on with the job.
Don't they have a similar set-up to ourselves. Head Coach doesn't identify players he picks from three options?
So we get 1-2 million, Gerhard gets a payrise, we get a caretaker in charge, Struber gets sacked with a good payoff by the end of this year and then he's back for start of 2021 taking over from our caretaker for the second half of the season.
Can't see Struber going to Watford, I genuinely think he will be at Barnsley for at least another season. If he were to leave, who would you like to see as the next manager? My personal choice would be Paul Cook, he did a tremendous job at Wigan. He knows the Football league inside out, he's passionate about he game and gets the best out of the players.
Who wouldn’t be interested in that job ? It’s an instant pension fund for a few months work if it don’t work out or even if it did it’s still good money they throw away . If they still in the Championship before parachute payment run out that another admin imo.
I would say a manager that managed to avoid almost certain relegation would be someone you'd consider as a manager for a championship club.
I don't think our current board would ever hire a British head coach. It would be another guy from abroad we've not heard of before as it's worked well with Stendel and Struber who have made up for Morais. Maybe they will go down the route of someone with a surname starting with S as it's worked well twice
If they look at the eight games since return of season (lose the stoke video ) I believe they’d look and say but for a goal scorer ‘this is a good team and playing well considering the ages . And if they look at the difference in the back four since he took charge they’ve slowly but surely massively improved . Maybe with better resources he’ll do ok for us . Imo
