Weakest championship in years, especially at the bottom. We have a real chance this season to do consolidate our position. Might stick a cheeky tenner on top half finish.
Would agree with that. Very hard to call who will do well. You would expect a couple of the prem clubs to do well. Stoke and Middlesborough will probably be up there. If we keep the squad together (and add some quality) which, for once, looks likely, for the first time in a while, I am confident we can establish ourselves.
It is a first for us. The first time we are not bookies favourites for relegation in many a long year. ps from the championship
Forest and Huddersfield seem to offer quite poor value there. Forest have been absolutely woeful this year. I think that Stoke are very likely to continue their upturn in form, and it wouldn't surprise me if they win the league. Swansea could also be worth a flutter. At the other end, whilst I'd love to see Wycombe survive, it's difficult to imagine. They only qualified for the playoffs on a technical quirk. I wouldn't claim to know much about Rotherham and Coventry's squads, but Coventry looked very good when I saw them a couple of times in 2019. Next season's financial basket cases? Reading, closely followed by the Massives, and possibly Derby.
I think the mentality has to be worked on too. I don't think it's coincidence that we take 6 points off Fulham, 2 off Swansea, 3 off Forest, 3 off Brentford etc and lose points against the lower ranked teams. We need Struber to take the pressure off the players for games we're expected to win. What does Stiffler say in American Pie? ,"You've got to take the pussy off the pedestal".
How do they get Huddersfield’s odds shorter than Bristol? Yeah l get they that they were recently in the Premiership but really?
It might be because Bristol City are stagnating and prone to bad runs of form. Where as Huddersfield, like Stoke City may have had a wake up call?
Looking at that, relegation for us next season would represent a massive failure. Rotherham, Wycombe and Wednesday will all do very well to reach 50 points. We really should be aiming for a mid-table finish at the least, it's the best chance we've had since we had Hourihane/Winnall etc.
All footballing teams, we’ll struggle against Millwall, Stoke etc. Did we beat any big, ugly teams this season? Not sure if the Hudds game under the Cowleys counts.
Aye I was thinking that. I'd get on them now before they start throwing the cash around and the price shortens.
I don't think we did we only picked up a point against Reading and lost both games against Birmingham and Cardiff.
Lee Johnson was prone to bad runs of form. Let's not forget that they no longer have the streakiest manager in English football.
Depends who they replace Howe with. I reckon they're likely to do well if they keep the core of the squad together, but strange things sometimes happen with relegated clubs, and they struggle badly.
No money though and a brand new manager. Think some of the ex prem players might not have the same attitude as his Leeds U23s.
Since Wagner they've taken the cheap option with coaches and it's back fired drastically but they still have a decent enough squad there. I can't understand why the took the punt on the Cowley's they were the modern day Hill and Flitcroft.
