I think he will only be allowed to play for one team at a time, unless he has a time machine. Incidentally, I am working on a time machine. Initially I could only get it going slowly forward. Now I am older it seems to be going forward much quicker.
Another player vastly overrated on here. I sincerely hope he stays in the championship. And we manage to play 4 games 2 whilst he’s with one club 2 when with another. Think there’s a rule on amount of clubs you can play for on loan. I stand corrected if not.
I must say I always liked Liam Lindsay. Then again, I was also a fan of the likes of Brad Potts, Marley Watkins & Alfie Mawson who have all come in for criticism these past few days. Ah, well.
I don't get that, we didn't concede that many goals that season. I remember a couple of his lapses, notably the debacle away at Oxford, but that was 50/50 with Davies. But don't remember making more than most. Perhaps my mind is playing tricks with me....
He was part of the best performing defence I’ve seen at the club - in terms of goals conceded and number of clean sheets. That doesn’t mean he’s one of the best centre halves, or that Davies was the best keeper. Cavare wasn’t the greatest defender and Pinillos was slow. They were still the best performing defence in my living memory though, so to rewrite history and say Lindsay was poor is ridiculous. Playing with Pinnock won’t have hurt but he was a big part of it. Did he make errors? Yes. He was the grand old age of 23 when he left though, only 24 now. A baby for a centre back. He’ll have a good career.
We conceded 39 goals all season, lost 7 league games and achieved over 90 points. Unbeaten at home all season. More clean sheets than any other side in the division. We carried no passengers that season. He made a couple of obvious errors that I can recall, one of those in the cup v Burnley and even then whilst it was a poorly timed tackle it was hardly a glaring mistake, just one of those things. He was 22 and 23 years old that season. I’m not saying he’s brilliant, he’s not, but as I’ve said above, suggesting he was anything other than an integral part of what was a record breaking team is patently false and rewriting history. Ethan Pinnock was our best centre back and arguably our best player full stop that season. He’s getting rave reviews at Brentford, looks brilliant. He was ran ragged against us not so long ago and could easily have given away two penalties - you can define and remember players by whatever you like but I will remember him being part of many more clean sheets and winning teams than the number of errors he made; simply because there were many, many clean sheets and victories and comparatively few errors.
Lindsay is strong, and there is no doubt that he can head the ball, and that is fine for League 1. However, as a player goes up the leagues, he will also need pace. Lindsay is slow. That was my worry before we sold him, and I say it again now. If you only judge players on the mistakes they make, then Lindsay is fine. If you judge players on the criteria needed to play the game at a higher level, then Lindsay has problems.
I made an entire highlights reel of him grabbing attackers and throwing them to the ground. He was awful and we were extremely lucky that that he had a great player covering for him.
