Yep that’s us and no complaints about watching championship / league 1 , at least not from me but ... the mode we have been working at of buying exclusively young and unproven at this level has been found wanting. Didn’t Dane himself acknowledge mistakes? Didn’t he also say those mistakes wouldn’t be repeated? Well since that statement we have lost experienced players at this level and signed young inexperienced players. Week to go but it doesn’t look like lessons learned.

his scoring record is from last season hardly ancient history. This season he is again thus far our top scorer. So try again.

you may get your entertainment from watching a losing side but generally speaking that’s not how it works.

Thats all well and good Whitey, but the current owners' declared intention from day 1 was to get us out of that cycle and progress us up the food chain - albeit slowly and cautiously, and I heartily approve of that.
Sadly what they've actually done is make bad decision after bad decision and through their actions they've hamstrung us from making progress which was within our (and their) grasp.
And what's worse, for all their fine words, they keep on repeating the same mistakes. They never learn.

Whitey can’t criticise that’s where he earns his wages. Barnsley are a real mess at the moment. Be interesting to see what happens next season with our season ticket holders following another disappointing transfer window and yet more unfulfilled promises from the the CEO etc.

Maybe that's because the recent owners kept dismantling successful teams so every time the club looked like progressing the owners managed to **** it up. Yes we've been top of L1 bottom of the championship in recent years but maybe that's down to the way the clubs being run by the owners not the club itself.

The owners want to run Barnsley as a wholesaler of players. For that purpose being in the Championship is expensive and perhaps unnecessary. Far easier for a player to shine at a lower level and go for the odd few million. You simply have to judge people by their actions. The board's talk of "ambition" is just spin. The added drama of their dispute with the Cryne family and sounding out a move away from Oakwell only succeeds in alienating us further. And whilst we are talking about average league positions - I prefer to flag up the 1980s and 1990s when we were able to retain second tier status. Some seasons were tough (ie mid 1980s), but we were competitive.

We managed to retain our Division 2 status through the middle to late 80s despite the majority of our supporters being on strike for 12 months then out of work after redundancy for in some cases years. But then the club was run as a football club not a tescos

I'm not having a go at Whitey, he among many others are doing a fantastic job. Sadly they're lions led by donkeys.

You are, of course, stating fact. Any chance you could remind us of your graphic when season ticket renewal time comes? That way I might be tempted to buy one every second season and thereby miss out the agony I go through when it’s our relegation season.

One of the major reasons in my mind for this was the advent of the Premier League, that's why you cant truly compare pre Premier league era's with what's happened since and then when you add to that the Bosman ruling the whole football landscape was transformed. Its been a continual struggle ever since choose who the owner is/was. Now we have COVID which impacts on the decision making processes. Whilst some of the charges levied at this current ownership may be valid, the same people don't seem to accept where changes to the recruitment policy have been made. Such is life I suppose, but the constant carping is so boring.. For gods sake put another record on. For the record I am no supporter of any particular board nor am I anti any board. They are the ones that know the financial situation so let them manage as best they can

You use teams as a plural. I get the claim that Stendel’s promotion team was dismantled, but so far we’ve only real sold Jacob Brown. Yes he needs replacing, but we’re hardly at dismantling levels yet are we?

Come back to this when Woodrow and Mowatt have gone.

Some bizarre analysis of the situation in here.

The club sells plays to balance the books, they've always said the business won't be floated with their cash but by sustainability. They want us to become a Brentford so they can sell us for big profit. They don't make big profit by pumping in ten million a year.

So we slowly build by selling high and buying low, they only really need to survive this year and they will have probably gotten their wish of being a safe championship team. That would have probably been this year if they hadn't lost ticket sales due to covid.

Again I don't defend the board, their actions, their silence. I just understand this is the way and I prefer that to being a Wigan or Sunderland.

Obviously I'm angry they aren't spending profit made on players as we did in previous season, I can't tell if they are being pushed back by players or just not trying to sign any. We need a striker, a cdm and a left back and that's without Woodrow and Mowatt leaving. So they need to pull a finger out and do it.

Possibly. But they haven't gone yet have they? And people have been saying lines like this for weeks, along with other gems like 'the owners want a League One club', 'they sell all the assets for their own profit', and 'Adam Murray is a snake'.
