Only thing I can think of is that he was pretending it had gone out but it was absolutely nowhere near to go going out so he can't have thought that

I think that's exactly what he was claiming, old mate. But you're right, it certainly was nowhere near being over the line.

He thought the ball had gone out. He raised his arm to indicate it had gone into touch just as the ball was pulled back.

And he was looking straight down the line at it too.

I've said for a while that I believe a player appealing for a throw in which they know isn't theirs, a corner they know isn't theirs and pretending the ball has crossed the line when it hasn't should suffer the same penalty as a player who dives as it amounts to the same thing, deception or simulation. Yellow card, job done

He was pretending that he thought it had gone out but there's no way he actually thought it. He was stood on the line looking straight down

Think he saying come on give me a chance I didn't even see it. It was that good a strike it, it would have sounded like a silence but violent going pass his left ear.

Any blatant cheating should be punished. Retrospectively if necessary.

Eeeek, it looked very very close on the still frame mate. I like your confidence but alas if the linesperson was in that side I reckon they'd have called it out. Bart time we got some luck like that

Anyways, minor details mate.... what a strike by Styles.... a tracer bullet Neil Thompson-esque.

The only down side is it was right in line with my seat in the Ponty end lol :)

I know that but to some on here it was nowhere near going over and for you comment like that shows how close it was. So in real time for the goalie to think it had gone out is not a hanging offence..

In fairness to him it could well have looked like it had gone out, we dont need yet more reasons for yellow cards.

I think the keeper was just fed up of not getting anywhere near any of our shots.

It would not have surprised me had it been called out.
