What do you mean, they’re all under contract aren’t they? It’s really not their decision and i doubt they will demand wage increase mid contract.

No teddies for me to pick up flower.

But you keep lashing out because you don’t agree... next insult?

For the record I hope you’re right about the rest of the squad. I really do.

But there is a huge difference between players and coaches being under contract, and them being ‘secure’. It’s quite frankly naive to think we won’t sell at least one or two.

If we sell nobody (by which I mean of note, I don’t mean clearing out fringe players), feel free to dig this thread out. I’ve been wrong in the past, I hope to be here.

I’m not thinking it very likely that I am though.

Dike, Mowatt will be gone and whatever other moves materialise and, it’s probably cheaper to buy a player from us than a so called bigger club and will offer much more wages which is really why players move on for.

    Negative and pure speculation?

Well yeah, it might be perceived as negative. It was designed more as an expression of my view of what will occur though. As a club we have high turnover of players and even coaches.

I’m being called out on here for being inflammatory - I mean fair enough if that’s your honest view, but I didn’t design the post in that regard.

There’s also another thread - also discussing essentially the same thing - on here, with many with the same view we will have a bit of a turnover.

In my eyes it isn’t negative to suggest this. It’s realistic. The ones that come in might be better, they might not, but the modus operandi is to sell to stay afloat. Some will go.

I’ve said who I think will. I don’t think it will be all of them. Wouldn’t necessarily be shocked if we sell a few of them though.

Mowatt will go. Dike almost certainly won’t sign. Can’t see many others leaving unless Val does.

High turnover of players maybe, but Brown has been the only regular to be sold in the last three transfer windows.

I would expect to lose Mowatt, dike and one other at least, but it’s still possible to strengthen from that. To be honest if bids for both Helik and Brittain come in that mean we can keep hold of the rest and bring a left wing back in, that might not be too bad. Kitching, Andersen and Sibbick as back three and styles in the middle with Palmer and Williams RWB.

Absolute key is knowing where Ismael’s head is at and early.

I’m expecting to lose Val to be honest. If we don’t, fantastic.

As for only selling Brown in the last three windows, that’s a big part of my thinking as to why we will have to sell some this summer. The resolve will be tested - but I don’t think it’s particularly realistic to hold on to all the team or even unambitious to sell some of those players mentioned.

Well said Helen. Easy to say when his contract is up 'oh he's mugged us off'. Utter garbage. He's been an outstanding servant to the club and worked tirelessly, a key player in taking us up under Stendel and Players' Player of the Year for this incredible season. If he moves on it will be a sad day, but I'll be wishing him all the best.

He hasn’t had us for a mug. He’s played out his contract, and he’s put a shift in while doing it. He’s not forced to sign another one with us and if he decides not to then it’s a shame, but he’s not mugged us off.

I don’t expect, or hope, to see massive dismantling either but the whole point of long contacts is that you can get true value at the time players are at there peak.

Our players couldn’t be more peak right now

There'll be some movement. It always happens. It's the potential scale of the movement and the board's decision-making that are most important. I'm personally not overly bothered who leaves as long as its clear with any replacements that the team is actually being strengthened. Down to the board.

Not sure how we could strengthen the squad through replacing key players. Alex and DK aside, who are gonna go regardless. Helik, Styles, Brittain, Andersen some of the names mentioned. These are all players who were relatively unknown and I can only assume we would replace them with relatively unknown players. That’s what we do. Are people going to see that as strengthening? Not so sure. Our attack needs major surgery for me. DK will need replacing and I don’t think frieser or ade are good enough to push us on. I still have faith in Chaplin given the right service. Mowatt’s obviously gonna need replacing and I think we desperately need a creative midfielder. Not seen enough from Palmer or Kane personally, but they may well kick on next season.

Above all else though, I desperately want to see our style of play evolve. At best the results made it tolerable. At worst i’ve found it really hard to watch. Once we’re through the emotion of fans return, things will return to normal, including three subs. I suspect it could start to wear thin at Oakwell, if the results started to dry up.

Personally, I think Mowatt has been nothing but a fantastic Professional throughout and deserves some respect and acknowledgement for it.
He could have easily rocked the boat by announcing he was seeing his contract out but hasn’t, he could easily have protected himself by not trying but he hasn’t. Yes he’s had some games where’s he not been great but all players do.
If he leaves, I wish him well.

I think it IS an emotional response. You may well be right, but after disappointment of having come so far people tend to take a far bigger negative view of things than they do after the dust has settled. In spite of youth, commitment, fitness etc. without some serious investment and injection of quality, chances of survival in the PL would have been virtually nil. Potential does not win points. Plan for the worst hope for the best.

Yep.. going to be another summer of change. VI already linked with the WBA job.. Helik only signed a two year deal so the optimum time to sell him is this summer especially if he has a decent Euro's. Maybe get a club record for him..
Woodrow talking to Steve Cooper last night going off at the end with hand over mouth.. looked more than just congratulations..
