https://www.bma.org.uk/bma-media-ce...verwhelmingly,Medical Services (GMS) contract. In a similar theme. This didn’t make the press as it doesn’t fit in with their agenda of scapegoating GPs if you wonder why you can’t see a doctor as often as you used to, this is part of the answer. The government is intentionally dismantling primary care and the current partnership model as far as I can see. https://www.pulsetoday.co.uk/news/breaking-news/99-of-gps-vote-no-to-accepting-imposed-contract/
It would be nice if we could even get to see a bloody GP. Not seen mine in over 3yrs just get told ring or come in at 8 in the morning to try and get one,no wonder AandE always packed.
They know they'll not get this in place before the election. Just more headline material for the Daily Heil, Express & Torygraph.
You're lucky. Not allowed to walk in to mine. No queuing system on the phones just call, engaged, call, engaged, call engaged. I guess they could set another GP on but then the average salary at my surgery would have to drop from £118k a year to a paltry £100k
what do you think is a fair salary for them to earn given it takes 5 years at university, 2 years foundation then 3 years GP training? Plus , what 50/100k debt oh and then there’s the pressure / ability to have to make decisions that could be life or death.
Not sure but I think they should all be the same it shouldn't be dictated by how greedy or (whatever the opposite of greedy is) the individual surgery is. I think that's the big problem with GP surgeries being privately owned and contracting to the NHS. One surgery may choose to have slightly lower wages but give significantly better care to patients by employing one extra GP and the next chooses to sacrifice care and run it on the minimum they can get away with to maximise profits. Vital health care should not be privately owned imo
Aren't you allowed to register with another surgery if you don't like the one you are with? Not sure... I actually think mine is not too bad. Sure, you have the do the 8am phone lottery, but you can generally get to see a GP if you need to. I must be lucky. Gone are the days though where you actually knew the doctor and had a family relationship with the same doctor. I never see the same person twice.
Warning sarcasm. People must be wanting a sick note to get the statutory sick pay - £116.75 per week. Is that why the Tories are proposing to cut benefits?
Scum is too good a word for this government. Sadly any words that come to mind will be blanked out. The daft thing is that most of the people that voted them are the elderly, that most need it and believed Boris Johnson...
Assesor "Can you walk 5 yds unaided" Claimant "Yes" Assesor "NEXT ONE IN PLEASE. Close the door on your way out"
If true then the whole lot of them want shooting. A disabled friend of mine with serious mobility issues was sent a letter saying he had to attend a 'disability review' or his benefits would be cancelled. The appointment was at a private clinic in town with no parking. He had to battle his way up a hill with two sticks. He got there exhausted and saw someone who spoke to him for about a minute telling him that the fact that he could make it meant his disability wasn't as bad as he claimed. Got a letter the next day reducing his benefits. That was in the Cameron Osborne era and these clowns are 10 times worse.
