    Fair enough, Rotherham are going down with less than 30 points but anyone can spring a surprise on their day in this league.

    We have played 29 games and we find ourselves in 7th. We didn't plan for it and we certainly didn't predict but we are here on merit. This squad needs supporting if we are to finish in the top six this group of players needs supporting with extra reinforcements. A striker and a left back required bare minimum.

    Any talk of survival is defeatist to my mind.

    And with last two results with a great performance televised I think Hecky will be offered some promising signings/ loaners before transfer window

    In fairness Andy he's not really complaining there (unusually :) ) and he makes a good point. A modest reinvestment from recent funds will allow us to continue an excellent season in the manner we've started it.

    May I use my failing powers of recall (they no longer are total) to remember your post last season, about how we could not possibly be promoted?

    So now I applaud your embrace of the word "defeatist", insofar as you are a self-healed physician.

    For the record, I went on to predict that we wouldn't finish top 6 last season. It was that slackest of performances by Wigan that burst my balloon. Look how things have turned out now.

    What a ****** (to misquote the bard).

    Remind me all you like - it doesn't make my point in this thread any less valid. Strange that you say you actually agreed with me about our chances last season. I suppose it depends when you made the prediction.

    I've been of this opinion since the play-off final last season to be honest.

    This teams a bit special and the club is incredibly better positioned than it was 3 years ago.

    I didn't agree with you about our chances last season.

    You proclaimed that it was impossible for us to go up, and then went on to use such premise as a reason for slagging summat or other off. LJ I think.

    In response I pointed out that we could still qualify even though I thought it unlikely.

    No agreement there. We were predicting at the same time.

    It was just your use of the word "defeatist" that seemed to smell of irony.

    If someone had offered me 21st on the morning of the Ipswich game I'd have taken it, but we deserve to be where we are and we need to do all we can to ensure we are as competitive and positive as possible.

    Different type of performance to the Leeds one, but was always going to be a tough game.
