    You may not be aware that a young boy , oliver king, died in my local secondary school during a swimming lesson - the lad had a heart defect. My local councillor jake Morrison has started a petition to make sure that defibrillators are installed in public places. It needs a 100,000 signatures - it's short of that number and there isn't long to go. It only takes a couple of minutes at most -if anyone on here is on fb or twitter then I would really appreciate it if you shared the link with your friends/ followers. We have seen with the recent case of muamba how important these machines can be . Thank you!

    I'm a bit concerned about this one LR. I don't want to be a party pooper but aren't you better off starting a petition for a full medical check for kids rather than placing a potentially dangerous piece of kit (without qualified staff) at a pool?

    Again, sorry if I've misunderstood.

    Staff are fully trained in it - it's like the vinnie jones campaign on heart compressions - time is everything in these situations. You don't have to sign obviously but it's helping to raise awareness of something that is becoming more common. Hopefully just a start - in the ideal world kids would be screened but in a world of crippling cut backs it isn't going to happen
