I really don't know why we sign these players like Jackson, Tuton, and even Payne, when we immediately send them out on loan. Sending them to lower league clubs on loan won't help them gain any Champship experience will it.
Sign them. Judge them in training to see if they're good enough. Send them out on loan if not. Judge them again. Won't work out for all, but it did for MacDonald for example
Re: Payne taken off after 12 minutes on Saturday - injury? It must have been fairly serious for him to be taken off so soon. Anyone know what the injury is?

Exactly, not one player we've signed from non league for our developmental squad has ended up developing into a first team asset. Something goes wrong either with scouts talking up the wrong guys or the training when they get to us. They will be shipped out soon enough like Otis Khan was.
George williams did was great for us last season and scored a vital goal against posh which without we wouldn't have made the play offs.
We take them on because they'll be cheap and we might find the odd gem. Think we all thought Payne would be a decent back up choice, just needs a run of games. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. But if it's financially viable I don't see the harm in it.
