It's not.
From what i understand though i would say it's better than Leeds.
sheffield united and Barnsley are up there from what i've seen.

Best in the country means it's going up against tier one. Manchester clubs Liverpool Arsenal Sunderland Newcastle Chelsea tottenham Southampton

Here's a short summary:

2000s
Aaron Lennon
James Milner
Scott Carson
Danny Rose
Jonathan Howson
Fabian Delph
Andy Keogh
Frazer Richardson
Matthew Kilgallon

2010s
Sam Byram
Tom Lees
Aidan White
Chris Dawson

A bit better than Parkin, Flinders, Jamil Adam, RNL, Stones and Butterfield.

Next question (genuinely intrigued as to what the answer is) - who was the last Barnsley academy graduate to start a Premier League game for a club other than Barnsley?

When I saw him in pre-season at Rotherham, yes. When Bobby said he was a Rolls Royce player I believed him.

How many pre seasons are we giving RNL?

And just to state facts (from the top of my head):

Howson
Lennon
Delph

Then you've got:

Milner
Kilgallon

And players that they've sold recently:

Johnson
Becchio
Gradel
Snodgrass
Beckford

And not forgetting the likes of:

Paul Robinson
Jonathan Woodgate etc

We've got:

Stones (on the bench)
Butterfield (loaned out)
Vaz Te (starting after 6 months here)

They must be doing something right/different to us.

Best in the country means producing players for your first team that are good enough for the league you are in or above. We've done that too infrequently.

Was it Nicky Eaden with either Birmingham or Wigan? Not sure if he did or not. Before that Carl Tiler and before that David Hirst, Mick McCarthy and Ian Banks all did in the 80s.

been injured for last 2.
Non of them came through there youth system. All them are players that they give a chance like Barnsley should and will hopefully with Jones/ Rooney.

Butterfield been injured. Missed pre season.
Stones, 18.
Give them a chance.
Huddersfield at okawell, Sheffield wednesday and Leicester away. Noble Lazarus did well.
Digby will be back next season. If you don't want to believe me, believe the manager. He's not said he wants to stop for the 30 something that they make him want to get out of bed in a morning and to the training. He's said the like of Rose RNL clark.... Digby are the reason. Digby's back next season. Hopefully the injury will not affect him and he can make is mark from game one. If he does and we have the same midfield positions available has today i would expect either Dawson or Perkins to miss out.

Phil, I love thi, but if you reckon ANY football manager would drop Perkins or Dawson for a lad 17 year old lad who's been injured for 12 months you're even more mental than I thought.

I know they didn't come through their system but the point was they were obviously 'coached' to a point where they could play at a level or two above Leeds. Only Vaz Te is doing that.

You don't half dig yourself some holes Hemmler. First you say the academy doesn't deserve praise from the FA and then you say it is better than Leeds? At least remember what you have said previously. And don't forget we have had an academy and youth system here long before you started coming five seasons ago.

He left hassell out for Stones.
Digbys a guy keith Hill was talking about 12 month ago and saying him in sentences with ENGLAND. (before anyone starts he meant in the future but he's got the talent )

As you will probably know I'm from West Yorkshire, So i see a lot of Leeds fans and Leeds fans had gripes about quite a few of them players. Beckford wouldn't do well at oakwell. Far too lazy. i was hearing how rubbish Johnson was every week.

Nope, looking at the stats he never played a Premiership game for either. So is it the case since 1993 we have never produced a player who has gone on to start a top flight game for another team?

hemsworth-tyke Please explain how this could possibly have happened with us having a top academy system.

what you seem to fail to grasp HT is that while all these academy players MAY have potential, that is all it so far is, potential, and until they go onto realise this potential everything you say about them is purely hypothetical, the game is probably littered with players who were potentially brilliant at 18 but never made it any higher than league 2/conference standard

Hemsworth what is your fascination/obsession with our academy and development players? You come across as the type of guy who thinks Brooklyn Beckham will be a world beater just because his dad was half decent. We all know we have some players with decent ability coming through, who if they apply themselves right could have a big future within the game. You go on like you're the one who discovered these players. And seem to have an 'I told you so' attitude whenever one of these players has a decent game. When they're good enough these players will be picked, they will be forgiven for there mistakes and everyone will be backing them.

Remember the likes of Nathan Jarman, Griff Jones, Nathan Joynes and Tom Baker? People were crying out for them to be in the squad because they looked good at academy/reserve level. They played a few games and looked OKAY, much like Andrai Jones did. However in the end they just didn't have the ability, consistency or work ethic to make it.

Be patient and if the likes of Rooney, Jones, Clarke, Rose etc are good enough then they will have good futures at this club.
