Great meeting tonight. Thanks to ask of you for being so honest and open. Such a shame there are so many 'keyboard warriors' on here as was suggested. Please take NO notice of 99.9% of the n*beads on here. True fans appreciate everything you have, are and will do for this club. When you think we could have been sadled with Ridsdale and Doyle permanently at one stage there would not have been BFC to support now. Many people on this board don't have a brain cell to rub against their skulls. Take NO notice of them at all. Upwards and onwards with all three of the present incumbents ...
I take you asked how Doyle managed to get in before him then? Yours A Knobhead PS Not decrying his efforts, a genuine question.
My genuine message to Mr. Cryne .............would be this: You've done a great job; now finish the job off, like you intended, and find a new owner that has the capacity to take the club forward to the next stage.
Agreed. Be a big challenge to the fans to take over. Over to us... Dyson, where's that business plan?
He's asked a number of people whether they'd be up for buying the club and been told every time they weren't interested. As for potential overseas purchasers, they're only interested in buying city clubs (especially those in based in or near London) and not those from a provincial town.
Yes please...........Expand Because the ordinary fans in the stands don't get to hear anything about this. In my opinion Patrick needs to find a new owner. OR better still work with someone, advice someone, who has the funds to take the club onto the next level. We will always be thankful for Patrick.........but unfortunately (it seems) he hasn't the funds available to move things forward. Chopping and changing managers every 18 months which leads to chopping and changing full squads of players is not the way to build a football club.
totally agree. he puts at least £1M into the pot as it is. there are no big spenders for a club like ours (see above)
Have to disagree Nudger. The club needs to survive on its own income, an investor just means we're spending what we don't have. If they then leave, the club is up s**t creek.
I'll Expand Everybody there were ordinary fans and hence did get to hear about this. There were places available for people so pity more ordinary fans didn't hear it in person Patrick has tried to find a new owner. Its clear he was the last man standing when the club needed to survive or fold altogether. His love of the club meant he stepped in. There are no rich oil billionaires, no local millionaires, no rich keyboard warriors waiting in the wings. He has tried through various means with various people. Only investers who have shown slightest interest wanted to get their investment from flattening our own assets. You might not think he has the funds, but the fact is whatever his funding is (1-2M per year) its much more in fact all of it is more than the next alternative.Patrick himself stated if the right investor / buyer came along then he would do whats right for the future existence of the club. So given that, i guess you can now accept where we are and recognise that we should be thankful with what we have?
The man is a true red legend. He makes no money from being the owner of Barnsley. He spends his own millions keeping us afloat. He wants us to be self sufficient but won't see us suffer in trying to do so. I love those "he should sell the club posts". To who? Get a grip. Without this man we wouldn't be where we are today. Or put your own hand in your deep pockets and put your millions into the club. Not saying we don't have a right to question decisions. Of course we do. We're all (or most) still paying customers to a business that he owns. And that gives us the basic right to feedback. Only shame is his Son has stepped away. And the club, should PC not wish to continue supporting our club, will have no benefactor left to turn to.
Only 2 organisations have ever been interested in buying the club and they were more interested in the 30 acres that the club stands on. Theres no doubt Patrick would like to find a new owner (with the right intentions). This idea that there is some sort of adviser who will find us a billionaire owner isn't reality. Potential football owners want large city clubs. Patrick has also approached local business men with money including Paul Sykes and hasn't been able to find anyone interested. It seems like the plan is now to get to the point where he doesn't have to put in 1-2million every year and then gift the club to the fans.
