As far as im concerned, any dreams of finishing in the play off's is over after that loss today. We would have needed a result today to keep it alive but it wasn't to be. Our best hope now is a top half finish. The inevitable loss of Hourihane next week will be a bit easier to swallow, provided he doesn't follow Sam the snake to the pigs (or Leeds). Moncur needs to step up and prove his 500k prive tag, he could be Conor's replacement, if not then i'm sure we have some youngster lined up as his replacement. Bring Morsy in, maybe Bogle, and the young kid we have been linked with at Everton and we should secure safety.
Are you for real we got hammered at home to fulham losing sam would have made no difference to today's result he wasn't the best all round player we have ever seen. And we will be safe with or without whoever and that was always the aim from the start it's our first season back.
we are only 7 points from the play off zone so its not the biggest hill to climb. So chin up mucker we can still do it.
Never really thought we could have gotten play offs were not consistent enough and there are some good teams in this league but this game certainly doesn't end any chance of them there's still 20 games of the season left so nothings impossible. Also there is no guarantee that Hourihane will leave next week or at all, and if anything the situation sounds alot more promising than what it did on Wednesday/Thursday.
I'm on my way back, and we've just been beaten by the better team. They were better at oakwell and better today. Not too many times I can say that this season. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Re: we are only 7 points from the play off zone Stranger things have happened i suppose, but our squad is threadbare compared to others, unless of course we have a surge of incomings in the coming weeks.
Always knew today was going to be a tall order, Fulham are a great side. And as far as the snake is concerned, well i always thought Bradshaw was the better of the two anyway. Just disappointed at how he handled it and the club he ended up at.
Play offs were only ever a dream. We should temper our ambition to how long term we stay in this league. Having watched today's game, and seen how we were organised and not overwhelmed, if I was in charge I'd pay Hecky the salary loot that we can't fork out to an individual player. He knows what he's doing. He's why we are where we are. Lose him and we're toast. (That'll be the agreed fee Mrs H)
Dream is over? You give up easily mate. We're still in the mix in my view. Up to the bizarre and unjust penalty award just before half-time, we matched them.
That's simply breathtaking. You know we're only just past halfway for the season, yeah? Did last season not happen in your freaky world?
also the last ten games have yielded this this is our last ten league games points gained 17 Won ..... 5 Lost .......3 Drawn ....2 goals for........... 13 goals against.... 13 so if we were to continue that form and points gain over the remaining 20 games that would give us a further 34 points that would give us 72 points. That would be quite close to the play offs. If we could cut out a few of our defensive errors then that tally could rise easily. We need some extra players in to help ..... especially as we seem a bit understaffed IMHO in both full back positions.
The dream is over Yes I'd agree with that - but it's nothing to do with today's result. I thought over this last year or so we had finally sorted the behind the scenes management of the club. The fact that 5 or 6 first team players are out of contract this summer and our better players are able to just walk out of the door and join rivals for next to nothing has totally shattered my belief in Barnsley Football Club and it's directors. Lost interest Can't see me attending another match this season.
Agree, first half we matched them and would have been good value for the lead, but more shoddy officiating changed the game, and unfortunately it's happening on a regular basis, especially against the teams up the top end of the table. But the 2nd half of the season is going to be tough, more so if/when we lose Hourihane. A top half finish would be superb considering safety was the prime objective at the start of the season, and probably still is!
