    What about Nicky Ajose?
    Transfer listed at Leeds.
He wouldnt take a 400k bid though.

Realistic transfer - player with pedigree and the attributes we need, i.e. pace and guile.

The rumoured 400k bid was for a player in League 1. No fee specified for the player from the championship.

Wasn't it Swindon who made that bid?

Could well be JOS as he has featured as a striker for Blackburn this pre-season.

If we somehow managed to land both O'Sullivan and Madden, our midfield and attack would start to look almost unstoppable - at least on paper.

The permutations with those two additions could be frightening! Cannot help but get excited by this speculation. It is only that though...

Considering Sam Clucas was sold for a fee of £1.3m, would £400k be 'enough' for Madden?

Henderson is 29 and only has 1 year left on his contract so I would be surprised if we went in with that amount of money although good players cost.

No chance anyone would bid 400k for a 29 year old in league 1 with only a year left on his contract, no matter how good they may be.

Exactly my thoughts mate. It wouldn't make 'good business sense'. However, he looks like the type of player who keeps himself in pristine condition so I can't see why he can't continue to play at a 'high level' for a good few years yet.

Really hope these striker targets come off - to end all our speculation if nothing else ;)

Anything over £100,000 is a bit pricey for me.

Not sure. We'd only be offering him a 3yr contract at most so he'd see it out no problem before any age deterioration.

It's been said before on here recently but when did 29 become old?

Not saying he's worth it mind.

Can,t see it being madden too similar to win all if you going to sign another striker he needs to offer something different.

When you consider players like Ryan Lowe who is 36 and still able to score goals at this level (has done in recent seasons) then 29 is no age at all.
For us to recruit a player who has pedigree and the ability to perform to a high level in the majority of games at the age of the rest of the squad then we are looking at 500k/750k minimum. Henderson at 400k, if it is even him, might not be such a bad piece of business after all

That's a very fair point. If you look at the profile of striker that we do have and their attributes then I dare say pace is something we need - Henderson doesn't necessarily have that.

Not saying he's old, but he's probably at his peak and isn't going to get any better. Little resale value either.

If he was 22/23, £400k wouldn't be that out of the question.

He does mate. I think Redsnut was talking about the role that both strikers play e.g. fox in the box. Having said that Winnall does contribute a fair amount to general play and his work rate is never a miss. Personally, I hope he is partnered by a striker that will do the 'dirty work' for him and leave him to concentrate on getting in the box and finishing.
