For those of us old enough to remember, wasnt it tonight 1998 when we beat Man U at Oakwell ? A pearler from Super John then two headers from Scott Jones ?
Fantastic night, we were in the Ponte right behind the goal for Jones’s header, one of the best night’s I’ve had at Oakwell COYR !!
The night that never should have been. Maybe Riley deserves a bit of credit for missing Nevilles knee high challenge on Lidds.
Rumour was at the time they got changed at Ardsley House rather than use our changing rooms which werent big enough for them.
This game was incredible and one of my many highlights watching BFC. Like others have said the game might never have happened had Riley not bottled one of the easiest penalty decisions of his career.
Andy Gray was so incensed on our behalf over that penalty . Really thought the jammy sods would beat us in the replay so total euphoria that night.
I put 40 quid on us to win that night. I felt sure that Fergie was going to put out a below strength team. I felt pretty confident when Ben Thornley trotted out but the rest of the team was pretty strong.
Fond memories, me & my Dad watching from the West Stand. Travelling back on the train to Leeds was interesting!
