No it isn't. Earlier in the Summer, people were complaining we lacked strength in depth. We now have it midfield (still need it in other areas, though) and folk still complain. Johnson can't win with some.
I'm not a massive fan of loans unless we genuinely mean to sign them (excepting Crowley). But I can see our treatment of managers as put us in a position where Johnson has to rely on them to a degree. I think we still lack strength in most areas outside goalie and midfield but you can't blame Johnson for that as I'm sure he is itching to strengthen in key areas.
Loans are a side effect of wealthy clubs stockpiling players and the introduction of transfer windows, in my opinion. Not getting appropriate cover in, or capturing the initial targets, is not always the fault of Barnsley FC. Other factors come into play outside the club's control when signing players, which is why more than one transfer window is required.
Never,I take your point, so I will put it another way. Without any permanent additions before the end of this transfer window promotion with this squad will be a pipedream. We may add more loans though God help it if we do but it won't make a jot of difference. When the January window opens we may sign some of the loans we have now. Still won't be promoted. Sign 2 or 3 permanent quality signings in the correct areas, preferably within this loan window, and we may stand a chance. Providing we show more adventure on the field of play.
Well, this is one of the potential hazards of persistently changing the man in charge and then not giving him any time. I have more confidence in Johnson knowing what needs to be done in getting us promoted & actually doing it than I have in any poster on a social media site.
It is indeed though it would be nice to give our own young players a go and have the confidence in them rather than perpetually chasing short term gains.
Perhaps having the Sword Of Damocles permanently hanging over your head plays a part in it. Whilst ever it's there, then I don't blame anyone for looking at short term gains. I, too, would dearly love to see more of our Academy lads given their chance. Unfortunately, I also read and hear the pathetic, OTT criticism from our own supporters of the likes of Bree, Smith, Cowgill, etc., when they're just setting out on their careers and I can understand the decision not to blood more of them.
oh you can't attach any blame to the managers impetus has to come from the top. And you're right about those who criticise young lads on very limited viewings. Bit sad for me that we didn't play any of our academy players on Saturday but played loads of borrowed ones. just a personal preference.
I did and he Bit The Bullet Thankfully I wasn't inspired by LJs appointment (what has he achieved exactly?) but as with any other appointment he has my backing and still has for the foreseeable future but when he comes out with: “I knew before the game it would be really tough with two contrasting styles but I thought it was a good game and a good advert for the Football League. “There weren’t as many shots as people would have liked but I think everyone appreciated it was a good game all round.” Then I see alarm bells ringing. If that was a good game then Mr Reev will have a chance of being the next Messiah!!!!! A good advert for the football league? It was Dull, unexciting, tepid, Mind Siftingly Boring! Say it how it was LJ, instead of trying to put a load of spin on it. We had enough off that with the previous Guy. People will not be enticed back thru the turnstiles with that kind of display. I want him to succeed, of course there will be errors and setbacks along the way as with any manager, Patience is the key as many people rightly point out, but persist with the negative crap and he will lose the faith of the paying supporter.
I would like to have confidence in L J , but at the moment am baffled somewhat with his Post Match statements as to events on the field of play. " it was a good game and a good advert for the Football League." What rubbish!
He's entitled to express his opinion. It doesn't have to agree with mine and I don't have to blindly accept his, either. However, I will still show patience with him, the squad, individual players, without finding the need to criticise everything I don't agree with.
