...Oakwell this season. Only Sunderland, Bolton and Ipswich have been less successful at filling their stadiums in the Championship. The percentage threatens to be higher next season in Division One. Something else the new regime needs to think about this summer. http://fanbanter.co.uk/every-championship-club-ranked-by-how-well-they-fill-their-stadiums/
It's a waste to have so many empty seats which someone could be sat in. If the people in charge just shrug their shoulders about it in the same way that you've done, then it speaks volumes about why we never make tangible progress.
Biggest average since 2001 as well. Real shame we haven't built on our success. It'll take a promotion to get some fans back on side again after what's happened over the last 16 months.
These people are supposed to be game changers where marketing is concerned. I would hope they are going to be more pro-active than that.
As far as I can see there's only two ways to get extra people in the ground. A winning team or cheaper tickets. Pre match jugglers, more hot dog stands, fan zones are going to make next to no impact.
Some imaginative ticketing would be a start. We can't afford to put anyone off with our match day prices either.
How many other clubs in the Championship have spent the last 12 years or so treading water - bouncing between the bottom 6 in the Championship and the pub league. And how many people during that time do you know that’s just packed up going to games?
Improving facilities often attracts more fans. Those who relocate often get bigger attendances and it can kick start some success. I don't want us to go that far though. We need to somehow freshen things without actually leaving Oakwell.
We also have the 4th worst average attendance in the Championship, so we do clearly need to expand our active fanbase if we are to compete there.
Totally agree i'd rather it be fuller but until we stop playing boring, dull, monotonous, frustrating, and UNEXITING football, whos gunna bother,SEASON ticket holders av been boycotting games[even wen they could get] cos of wots bin on offer this season
Look back at our history and we've hardly ever broken 15k average attendance even during our glory years. With a 30k plus ground and reasonable prices our % would have been way lower than it is now. It would have been 36k when I first started going and we were getting around 12k+ - that's 33% full
In fact 3 times we've broken 15k in nearly 40 years- with prices higher and money tighter I'm not sure what else we can do
