Andy Yiadom failed a medical at Huddersfield last week apparently. Allegedly this is the reason why the deal is currently "on hold". George Hirst is set to join a Championship team on loan after Wednesday and Everton couldn't agree a fee for him. Rumoured to be us. Probably no truth in either, but thought I would share what I've been told.
If that's true and he is forced to see out his contract with us, I wonder where that leaves him in 12 months' time? I also wonder if a player has to have another medical when offered a new contract or a contract extension? Maybe he should have signed the contract offered by us after all? He might be in a bit of a pickle next summer if the rumours are true.
No Premier or even Championship club would risk signing a player with a back problem. He might have burnt his boats.
But we offered him a new deal that would have made him the highest earning player at the club and we knew full well about his back problem?
Kidology I reckon - like putting a new MOT on an old banger to make any prospective buyer think it's a runner.
Could be right mate. It's become a pretty toxic situation now though if he has indeed failed a medical, we will probably end up flogging him to someone else for half the price in January.
The Hirst thing is likely to be BS but it would not be a bad move if it came off. The lad scored a lot last year in their youth side and carried that on for England youth teams alongside our recent loan signing Harvey Barnes. I know he is massively unproven and would be a huge risk but could be a clever move for us if it was true but I honestly cant see it myself
Doubt you'd fail a medical for that though, if its not permanent. I don't think McGeehan 'failed' his medical.
I understand that Sheffield Wednesday want to keep him and develop him,as they see a lot of potential. The problem has been the deal he has been offered does not recognise him as a 1st team player yet, nor does it pay him a large amount as a U23 player. The Everton offer pays SWFC a substantial upfront fee,but no more;plus the chance for him to develop with their U23 squad. SWFC believe if they keep him another season, they can get more money,or use him themselves. He or his advisers believe he should be in their 1st team squad,Carlos C disagrees. Hence the impasse, he wants to go allegedly as he believes he is ready for 1st team football. I've never seen him,but I don't think he is the solution to Box's problems.
Not even info. I work with fans of a lot of clubs, a fair few in our division so it's good to get the oppositions view sometimes of a certain issue that might affect us as it could often be very different to how we all understand it. The 2 lads I spoke to support Wednesday and Huddersfield.
