If people vote a party that will exploit the low paid punish the chronically ill and disabled give tax cuts to the mega rich whilst neglecting our services and putting them out for the highest bidder to cream off the profits or give subsidies . Pretend it’s a friend of the NHS when all it’s existence they have despised it . Refuse to put workers rights into the eu withdrawal agreement ,
Then that’s up to them . But that doesn’t mean they are not turning they’re back on the people the Tories love to hate not foes it e cues what they have done in the past are doing now and always will do in the future .
You are blaming labour for the workings of Parliament when Tories are voting against the govt yet you only punish labour .
What is going on in Parliament has been how our democracy has been run for hundreds of years , it’s a parliamentary democracy and this is what it means . I didn’t hear anyone complaining when it was used against thatcher during the poll tax debates.
If you feel that labour is letting you down and you can’t vote for them fair enough there is other party’s but to vote for the exact opposite of what we’ve fought against most of our lives is a sell out full stop.
This party are the scourge of the lower class even though some have a few bob in bank and thought they’d made it these bstd will undo them.
You only gave to look at our industry to see how they use people and then discard them .
The working miners during the strike thought they’d be looked after even forming their own Tory friendly union and these bstds shut on them from a great height
You vote for a Tory party or even a hard right Tory Brexit party it’s your prerogative but don’t pretend you haven’t betrayed the people around you Who are vulnerable or at risk from this shower of Toffs .
You say they are more for the environment the first thing they will pass with a big majority is hunting with dogs and building more mansions in the countryside .
But you know all this you know what this lot are capable of doing in spite of what they promise .

Don’t think people with severe disability’s or chronic and life shortening illnesses would agree with you when people dieing of cancer were assessed and classed as fit for work would agree with you .
The way they threw people out of jobs in this region and left them with no alternatives then harassed them and denied access to most benefits would either ,

Wait until you have to take your disabled child to be "assesed" to see if they worthy of help. Something I have had to do. Does voting Tory make you evil? I don't know.
It awful to see working class people in Barnsley cheering Johnson on though. I'm more worried about after Brexit when Labour suffer greatly at the next election. Largely due to continuing with a leader who has rightly or wrongly become unelectable.
On top of the attacks to the welfare system we can look forward to workers rights been destroyed too.

I voted to leave in 2016 and I was pleased to see this as the Labour Party policy in the 2017 manifesto.

2 years later the Labour Party have not accepted the result of the democratic referendum and have changed what was in their manifesto.

We have a GE looming -

Mr C - can we trust you to adhere to your manifesto promises in the future?
    - what is your view on accepting/rejecting the result of a democratic vote?

Dan J - when the majority in Barnsley voted leave why did you vote Remain in Parliament -
    - can we trust you to carry out what you may promise us pre-election?

I can answer both for you and it’s a no from them. Marlon speaks of betraying your own by voting tory, when the betrayal comes from the party you’ve supported man and boy you’ve not much option have you ? Corbyn would sell his grandma to get in power, lets see how well off the country is then when he’s taxed business to death, taxed those inheriting mum and dads house so they cant afford to keep it, and taxed anyone with an iota of industry and enterprise so much there’s no point bothering. To then give it away to the so called worse off, amongst whim are plenty who think that work is something the rest of us do to keep them in special brew and pizza. Just look at the parasites infesting the town centre, why the fk should I work to pay their benefits ffs.

The vast majority of people claiming benefits such as universal credit/tax credits are working or have disabilities.
Yes some people will take advantage of the system. But the alternative is much worse in my eyes.
The switch to universal credit for example has cost the tax payer far more than false claims ever did.
The "so called" worse off are often families where both parents are working and despite this are struggling to be able to afford to put food on the table without slipping into debt.
But because some peoples lives have sunk so low and they are addicted to drugs and suffering in public you want to cut everyone off? Everyone for themselves would not make for a society I want to live in.
Labour have a lot of problems and I think they would be better off without Corbyn who serves to polarise opinion. But they are still the best option for anyone who a) isn't very rich and b) actually wants to live in a society that trys to help everyone.

I fully agree. The instances you quite are despicable. People who deserve benefits are being punished. If there was enough money to go round they wouldn't be.
I'd far rather a left of centre policy was pursued. That doesn't make people who think a right of centre solution to the same problem evil. You can't brand 30 or 40% of the country evil. Misguided maybe.
I keep bringing this up again and again. My Dad voted Tory. He was one of the kindest, gentler people you'd ever meet. I didn't agree with his reliance on the goodwill of the Tories but to call him evil would be disgusting.

The rhetoric used in political discussions on this board is often so hostile and extreme it makes the thought of joining in the discussion a pointless and thoroughly unpleasant prospect.

If I had to choose between some scrounges who don’t deserve money getting it or disabled people who do need it not getting it and dying then I’ll vote for helping people any and every day of the week. The number of false claims is tiny and not worth punishing deserving people over.

Rich people convincing those with just enough money that it’s those with even less stealing it from them. Classic right wing conservatism.

no thank you it’s not a race to the bottom.

    Agreed.
And when there’s a backlash to it - it’s only then that Admin step in and start banning people - usually the wrong person.

    Two things.
Firstly - listen to the Labour leadership and all they talk about are the poor and needy.
    They never mention ASPIRATION.
That is to say those people who work - that own a car and save up for foreign holidays etc.

Secondly - no matter how much anyone praises the Labour Party or berates the Conservative Party - one thing trumps all other considerations and that’s DEMOCRACY.
People have died in wars for our democracy.
We cannot have a national democratic vote and not IMPLEMENT the result of that ballot.
    End of.
The Labour Party are refusing to implement that vote.
Consequently MILLIONS of traditional Labour supporters are turning their backs on them.

It's even worse than that - they are not even being honest about it. At least you know the Lib Dems stance. The Labour party's is effectively the same but they won't admit it.
