No logic in bringing in a goalkeeper, Hemsy whats needed at Oakwell is a striker or 2.
    Keep a lookout for a striker :)

Judging players purely by their height is incredible. I've seen absolutely massive goalkeepers being unable to command their box and the opposite also applies.

It's how a lot of the big academies look at it. Was told by a former academy goalkeepers father in you aren't likely to turn out 6ft 4 manchester united you aren't joining there u18's.

Mapplewell tyke or of one best youth systems in the world

Is this Townsend loan a genuine attempt to give him game time or is he on his way out. I know many on here wrote him off after a couple of errors in his first handful of games but recent reports from U23 games have been positive; not least from Stahlrost who wasn’t a half bad keeper himself back in the day (before most of you reading were born probably )

One of the tallest we have ever had at 6 foot 7 was absolutely atrocious. His name escapes me at the moment, a bit like the ball and him.

When was the last time Manchester United developed a world class goalkeeper? The closest I can get is Tom Heaton and Ben Foster, and nobody in their right mind would say they were world class(or they would be playing for United's first team).

Even at their most productive, producing 'keepers wasn't their strong suit...

I haven't met Mapplewell Tyke so it's unfair to judge.

Of course you judge a player by his height FFS.
These days ......... you wouldn't pick a midget (under 6 foot bloke) to be a goalkeeper, central defender or dare I say it a TARGET MAN.
Size didn't matter so much in football - it increasingly does now.
If you've noticed - Hecky has brought in mostly tall athletic players in this summer - Isgrove being the exception to the rule.

Okay then. Just look at the top goalkeepers in world football De Gea, Nauer Oblak Courtois cech Butland.

Can I just say this is my preference I'm just thinking about how to improve the side. No need for comments personally to me.

Spoke to a current employee at a South Yorkshire club and he holds the opinion that their current loan keeper is just a taller expensive version of their current albeit injured No1.

Just because a keeper you've seen play... Five? Times on the telly is tall doesn't mean he is any good.

Stop name dropping the latest young player as the next great hope and how he should be signed on loan sharpish. It's getting tedious

Deffo a crank. Butland isn't in the top five keepers in the Epl never mind the world.

That's a lot of steps - now displaying his 'skills' in the lower reaches of the world-renowned Cyprus League via sackings from Russian and then Swedish clubs.

Height has nothing to do with it. Two of the best keepers in my time for us have been Clive Baker and Nick Colgan. One of the worse being Lars Leese.
