In a post Madeleine McCann abduction world it certainly has. When they left their kids on what they thought was a safe holiday resort they weren't living in one.[/QUOTE] It's funny and that you mention Butlins I know my wife's parents said they did this. I asked my mum and she said they were aware of it but never did it as they didnt feel safe. Defiently attitudes have changed, I can onot speak for myself but I would never think it safe to leave the children in a hotel room and go to a restaurant so far away. And it's not just inconsistent press but I honestly believe if they had been unemployed parents from a council estate they would have had the other children taken off them.
My daughter was a similar age to what Madeline was when she disappeared. At the time, when we went on holiday, but one of the big parts of the holiday was taking her for meals out in restaurants. I couldn't then, and still can't imagine not wanting to have your kids with you while you eat a nice meal.
Couldn't agree more, mine are 8 and 6 and when we go away we do what the kids want. When they were younger if they were tired we would go back too. Now we are lucky that my mum and dad love having the kids so will happily take them for a weekend if we want a more adult break.
