How I wish that were a fair assessment of the season as a whole but unfortunately it isn’t. I’m a Hammill fan by the way but I’m calling it as I and many others are seeing it, up to press.
So your assumption is the people who produce this stat are calling a goal scoring chance a ball that is just near one of our players?
First half v Wolves several crosses went into their box but our attacking players were on their heels or incapable of getting on the end of them. If a tree falls over and there's no=one there to hear it does it make a noise ?
A goalscoring chance is when a ball is played to a team mate, and they subsequently have a chance to score a goal, either by getting a shot on target or off target, with their feet or head. Not if a ball is played into the box and there is no one there - that's just a ball played into the box with no one there...
needs must and be honest issy, ah and theim/bradders in the middle and moore, bradders\theim up front I think they'd keep a defence on their toes
Leave our best winger on the wing? Even though they may not be our best play some actual central midfielders in the middle of the park?
I think hammill would make an excellent attacking midfielder, so move it about, thiem/hedges oneside issy the other moore and thiem/bradders up front let villa worry about us
He’s an inverted winger. He looks far more accomplished cutting inside from the left and opposed to going on the outside down the right.
Do you go to any games? If you do then presumably you can answer your own question based on what you’ve seen.
If a ball into the box is classed as a ‘goal scoring opportunity’ then I reckon the number would be a lot higher than 39!
I remember Bradshaw missing one at Brentford when Hammill put a ball across the floor for him. I also recall Bradshaw putting a header over the bar at home from a Hammill cross. I think it may have been the Preston game. I think it probably means chances but not necessarily clear cut should definitely score type. The type of half chance that a centre forward makes a goal out of. Bradshaw unfortunately doesn't do that very often.
I think he has struggled at times with the better defenders in this league. Often doubling up and when he was played down the left last season they would do everything to stop him cutting inside to shoot. But he doesn't have a lot to work with up the top end does he? Not only is Bradshaw a poor option for a wide man looking to put a ball in the box but often our midfield aren't providing enough support either.
