I was surprised as everybody to see Adam H in centre midfield and Mc Burnie out in the wing. But Adam ran his blood to water for the cause today and was a example to the younger players on giving your all for the team. I do hope he signs on next season because despite this season not being his best performance wise, nobody can doubt his commitment to BFC.
I'd love to see him given a new contract. He may have lost a yard or two in pace but his effort and commitment have never been in question.
I would understand the decision to let him leave if we stay up, but personally I would offer him another 12 months. If we are relegated, then it’s a no brainier he simply has to stay.
I know it’s only basing on one game but Hammill playing CAM could be something to pursue, as you can generally get away with not having as much pace in there as opposed to being on the wing. I think if we go down then he’ll get a contract but if we stay up, I’m not so sure. In my opinion, he should get a contract no matter what league we’re in and I would love to see him as a coach here after his playing career is done.
At the start of the season I expected Hammill to be just an impact player. But right from the start he’s been his usual fantastic self. One of the best players I’ve ever seen play for Barnsley. Up there with Craig Hignett and a few others.
Love the lad and made a real impact in L1 not so sure now he can do the same in the Championship. He has been found out somewhat and is effectively marked out on the wing. Also is it me or does he struggled with set pieces over the last season ?
Hasn't he created the most chances out of any of our players this season? Not his fault if the strikers miss them. Not sure how that's him being found out rather than them to be honest
Word has it that when they were in the pre match huddle the rallying call was "**** Morais, lets play this how we want to". Also early on when one of the players went over for a drink and Morais got out of the box, some wit near us said "tell him to STFU, sit darn and be quiet" - snigger, snigger.
Bloody ell Mick pickles that’s goin back nar, Blackpool abart 85 supped some beer thier an iom bleeding ell Kev
Was anyone in hospitality yesterday? I was told that Hammill received his MOM award, thanked the fans and said that yesterday was probably his last appearance at Oakwell.
What ever happens he will always be hero worshipped and gave us some great memories and goals and personally would love him to stay involved with the club in some capacity.
I was. He didn’t say it would be. Just that it could be and that he wanted to thank the fans etc for support.
