You're not the only one. My main concern is that for the manager to say in a post match interview that he wasn't sure what changes would have made any difference in the second half is worrying. Croatia were all over us before they scored and it was clear a change was needed. Alli and Lingard are decent going forward but when England we're under the cosh they're too lightweight. I think with a more experienced, streetwise manager the result could have been different. Huge opportunity lost and probably won't come round again for a generation.
Yep - yer right. Lingard and Alli were light weight in defence - although I forgive them for that. What I can’t forgive is that along with Sterling they were also light weight going forward. There is a belief within these players that they cannot do it on the big stage. Those 3 players were just a shadow of what they can do for their own clubs. It’s not new this. I’ve seen it with England players for decades. The England shirt weighs them down. Croatia was allowed to get back into the game because our forwards didn’t kill the game.
