This is a genuine question. Given that the majority of football fans support teams that realistically have no chance of winning anything, us included unless you count the JPT which a lot don't, what do you feel Barnsley FC should be aiming at?
The ambition for any club should be to play at the highest level possible. You'll never achieve this by operating purely as a production line. Build a team not a balance sheet.
I'd probably say the same. The likelihood then though is that we lose more than we win even if we cling on up there for a few years and come back down.
In the short term, ie next season, mid table should be within our capabilities. After that? Steady year on year progression on an upwards projection shouldn't be too much to ask.
Mid table championship - basically the Yorkshire version of Preston, never looked like going down last season spent naff all, similar crowd and income.
They are. But everyone surely knows that they bought us to make a profit. Our only hope is that their search for bigger profits drags the club further up the ladder.
