I think we should be okay but it seems we're suffering a bit of second season syndrome after a fantastic last season finishing in the top half. Personally feel we are crying out for a certain Ben Pearson to be played in central midfield (he impressed me after joining in January) but he started the season ill and hasn't played yet rather annoyingly.
It's what your mam puts over the kitchen table ....when the vicar calls , usually goes with grandma's fine China and the little silver cake stand.
Ironically, our turnaround changed once Ben Pearson departed from our team. We replaced him with Josh Brownhill who was much more creative. Since his departure we've gone back to playing Scowen in the middle with Connor, who to be honest, should never really have lost his place in the centre of midfield anyway. He's better than both. Both in an attacking sense and defending. I was a big fan of Ben Pearson, and was gutted when he left. But the turnaround that occurred after he left was no coincidence in my opinion. He's made a great start, and we have Adam Jackson still to come. Add to that two very assured performers for the U-23's on Friday in Jack Cowgill and Julio Rodriguez. We're looking very strong in this position.
I think it is every fan's right to criticise / praise / admire / love / hate and change their minds at least a dozen times each season! Especially if you support the Reds. I think we would have had to search long and hard to find any positive comments at the end of last year.....
Thunderstruck!!! That would sound mint coming from a full Ponty End in full voice! nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nahhh...ANGUS!!! nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nahhh...ANGUS!!! repeat ad nauseam
The guy we got over five million pounds for after barely one season in which he got our young player of the year award, third in player of the year, two Wembley appearances, a trophy and a promotion. I hope he gets regular football at Swansea but probably be on the bench today. I get you're just praising Mcdonald but then you had no reason for a dig at Alfie.
Brownhill was nowhere near our side. Looks like he isn't anywhere near Bristol City's side at this stage either. Don't know why he didn't join you permanently as it would have made an awful lot of sense. I'm also a big fan of Pearson and hope he makes it back into our team soon. Worth remembering he's still a kid really, has a lot of potential IMO.
I myself came away from that night fuming and still say they shouldn't have sacked Danny. Its all history now though and maybe we woudlnt be where we are now if it all hadnt happened.
I agree. The mistake back then was to give Danny the job permanently whilst taking on the strategy in the background. The wrong man for that type of structure as is now being proven.
