I'm not in anyway suggesting that other jobs aren't important but the thread is about Dan specifically and he is ex Army. And yes we are trained to follow orders without question but it is the discipline that makes the British Army one of the best forces, if not the best in the World. It can be a short career but you can serve 22 years and some continue beyond that so relatively speaking it can be quite long.

I take your point, but military discipline isn’t necessarily good grounding for a political career. Also, my guess is for every ‘lifetime’ career In the military there must be many fold more short- term enlistments

Possibly not but it does teach some valuable life lessons and personally speaking it changed me for the better. I'd rather see politicians with some life experience outside of politics becoming MPs than those who have never worked outside of politics.
Your right about the %s. There are a lot who don't serve the 22 years for a variety of reasons.

I voted for Peacock as I’d prefer a Labour government to a Tory one.

The fact that she’s in a relationship with Tom Watson & has been since 2012 really puts me off her but as far as I’m concerned she’s better than the alternative.

I also prefer her to Michael Dugher who I can’t stand. He apparently resigned due to ‘Jeremy Corbyn not dealing with anti-semitism in the party’ even though it’s since emerged it was his best pal Tom Watson & his mates who were deliberately making false claims & not informing Corbyn about what was going off even though he will have known exactly what they were up to.

People like him, Watson & Ian Austin are a big part of the reason we’ve got a Tory party ruling with a huge majority.
