A wonderful thing to do. I don't know why GG gets so much stick from some quarters. He strikes me as an impressive young guy doing his best for us. When he speaks he is impressive (shame he doesn't do it a little bit more) and he seems to have a dry sense of humour when he rarely expresses it. Hard to get a perception seeing so many snippets, but in our coaching staff and CEO, I think we've some good hearted honest people.
Agreed 100%. It's probably taken him some time to get into the communications aspect of the job, with it being his second language. He seems to be growing in confidence in his role, even adopting the Barnsley sense of humour. Things are good right now!
He is a top bloke in my opinion. We have a club full of good people. I briefly met him last November before the match against Birmingham and he was on good form. Some of the stick he's received has been harsh. I've never known, or worked with, senior people who have got decisions 100% correct every time. This was just a nice thing to do, more important than football.
That’s my post on twitter, proper overwhelmed with all the messages i received, including one from Conor Hourihane. Genuinely didn’t think there would be this kind of reaction from it, but at least it may raise more awareness for men like me who’ve been afraid to speak in the past.
Thanks for sharing it Tykes and I hope the messages are helpful to you in some way. The sheer number of likes and and retweets your tweet has received shows how strongly people believe in reaching out and talking about mental health and how much people want to help, even if they're not always sure how to go about it. I've never spoken to you in my life but I am happy to talk to you at any time should you need it, even if you're not sure what you want to talk about at that time. Strangers on this board helped me through an incredibly dark time and I'll always be grateful and willing to do the same for others.
There’s a lot of good people especially in this area. We are all in a similar place at some point in our lives, wishing you all the best mate, you’re not alone! Ps, it’s national news... you’re probably going to be busy! Barnsley write supportive letter to fan who spoke of depression on social media http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45185521
By sharing this I'm sure you have helped some others today, given someone the nudge to seek support. Bravo!
There’s always someone to turn to Chris. Always. Never shy away from asking for help. Thanks for sharing this, and I hope you are in good health and fighting fit in the near future. All the very best to you.
Didn't know you posted on here Chris, the reaction has been phenomenal and I genuinely hope you get the support you need mate. Remember #itsoktonotbeok
I've not seen the instagram post from the BBC but Chris' original tweet has over 67,000 likes and is showing no signs of slowing.
Just incredible. Both from the club and the response this is getting. All the best Chris. Hope this is in some way helping
one of the many reasons why i hold this club dear well done GG hope sharing this and the responses received has made a difference to your well being
Take care Chris, and I wish you the very best. Remember, most people care. Very well done for taking the steps you have so far.
