If, and it’s still a big if for me, Moore is out for a considerable duration would we look at out of contract strikers? https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spi...klasse=&wettbewerb_id=alle&seit=alle&yt0=Show Not the best bunch of names ever but a deal until the end of the season wouldn’t be the worst. Would be against our transfer policy but we did sign Matt Mills last season, although admittedly that didn’t go very well. A certain Argentinian striker is in that list too I see.
This guy's got to be related. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mamadou-toure-thiam/profil/spieler/289991
Macauley Bonne. 23 years old, scored 23 last season and already scored 20 this season. Out of contract in the summer too.
It's not a conspiracy to me, just a curiosity. We have not been told what the injury actually was. I wonder if any of the journos have asked this directly.
The club advised that they are following an official protocol and if you care to research this you should find that all players are screened pre season and base data is recorded. Whilst following the protocol the player will be regularly assessed with a target of reaching the base line data from the screening. Should they not be meeting the base line data they do not progress to the next stage of the protocol. Apparently this process can take many weeks.
From what I see it looks like we signed Miller to be the 3rd striker for the rest of the season and expected to be able to buy out/come to some kind of arrangement with Bradford for his currently loan deal. Obviously this has gone tits up. This is no basis but wild speculation in this - I have no source or inside info.
That's how it looks to me too and it's utterly crazy isn't it. The club have even admitted they knew it for a while but still plowed on anyway
I'm of a different opinion to you in that I think our squad is deep enough to go up - suppose we'll find out soon enough. But to complete a deal on the last day of a transfer window and end up without the bloke you clearly wanted is madness. And we've got previous with the McBurnie deal. Initially I was of the belief that it was a mistake on the Swansea end that made a mess of that one, but the Miller circumstances does make you think that we do like to drop the odd bollock. I still think we'll go up, but it doesn't mean you can't make the odd criticism.
Spoke to a Bradford fan who supplies our company on Friday and I asked him about Miller, said he was surprised we paid £200k for him. He did counter that by saying he’s only young so may get better and be one for the future, I guess it’s been difficult for the lad playing in a poor team but the response I got wasn’t what I was hoping for. The guy also said we were the best team he’d seen at their place all season.
We bought him for the future by the sound of things, unfortunately we need half decent cover now. Thought Victor looked ok for 20 mins, but then fluffed his lines a couple of times imho not sure he is quite ready but again he has big boots to fill.
Exactly how I see it with Miller. We didn’t buy him and then mess up with the loan recall. We bought him to secure the deal. If these next couple of months he gets a fair few goals then his price would’ve gone up and we’d have had more competitors for his signature, this way we’ve got him. I’m also not sure on Victor. Scored a couple right at the start of the season but since then has missed a fair few chances and for me, doesn’t offer a whole lot either.
