It's that time of the season again when we can speculate about who might be available and who we actually need. No substance or evidence for this at all, just simply looking at who is out of favour and might be available on loan or on a permanent transfer. Joe Lolley from HTFC. Should be available on a permanent transfer. Hasn't had much game time. Tall and with a good pedigree. Jack Colback from NUFC. Could be available on a permanent but wages could be an issue. Bags of experience and frozen out at Newcastle. Sam Baldock from Brighton. Good and proven at this level. Hardly played. 28 so has experience. Jarome Sinclair. Young and should be available on loan. Other interest from the Championship. SUFC tried to sign him in the summer. Unproven. Allen Abdi from SWFC. Struggled since signing from Watford. Creative midfielder. Wages could be an issue. Marley Watkins from NCFC. It hasn't gone well for Marley this season. We all know how effective he can be. I'd have him back. Freddie Sears from ITFC. Fallen down the pecking order since the summer arrivals at ITFC. Always looks dangerous and a good eye for goal. Ashley Fletcher. It hasn't really kicked on for him at Boro. Could be available on loan. Wages would be a big issue. Rudy Gestede. Just what we need in my opinion. Only has 7 apps (most from the bench) this season. Big and a handful. Will cost. Che Adams from BCFC. Career seems to have stalled. A good player on his day. BCFC might be reluctant to sell to a rival. This final one is just a thought. Michael McGovern from NCFC. Fallen behind Gunn in the pecking order. Would be great competition for Davies which is what he needs. I'd be very surprised if we don't invest in another GK this winter. Like I said. No evidence at all about any of these. Just had a good chat yesterday at the game about who was actually available so I did a little research. Might all be completely unrealistic and out of our reach.
An interesting list & I can see the merits in all of them , one thing is certain , by the time the last firework is lit tonight , speculation will begin & we all love it , a good rumour prompts good debate, bring it on
One more to add to the list. Jamie Murphy from Brighton. Would be a good addition especially if Barnes goes back.
Some decent shouts there in contrast to most of the completely unrealistic suggestions often proposed on here. I would think that Gestede is a Pulis type forward but bearing in mind they also have Assombolonga and Bamford, Fletcher May be a viable option.
I think that you might be right about Gestede being a Pulis player. Shame though as I think he'd be ideal. Let's hope that Becky can persuade Fletch to return.
Baldock and Fletcher sounds like a fantastic strike force at this level! Like everything. Would depend on wages and whether they would come for £10k a week. Joe Lolley a good shout. Hecky wanted him in the summer.
Lolley came off the bench yesterday so it would appear he is still in Wagners plans... but id like him here, just the "already to play" Hecky was on about..
Some good shouts there, think wages for the majority could be a problem though under the existing wage structure. Surely this will change to some extent though as you can’t have a bottom 2 wage budget and expect to massively exceed that league position.
Makes a change to read some more realistic transfers! Baldock is a great shout, kind of forgot he was at Brighton not playing. I’d probably take all the players you have mentioned there. As others have said, depends on what wages we will be looking at.
If the likes of Baldock become available, then they’re likely to attract interest from the majority of teams in the division. Some might think we can now compete, on a financial level, with most sides in this division (which I doubt) but I doubt players of Baldock’s calibre would be happy to come and get it involved in a relegation scrap. We need a few really good additions to keep us up, then hopefully the summer will be when some genuine ambition starts to show.
It's would be dissapointing if we can't compete for the likes of Baldock when you think how many billions our board is supposedly worth.
