Admittedly poor opposition last night but the early signs look promising to me. Found space all night and rarely gave it away when he got the ball, more often than not finding the right pass or looking to get a shot away. Tricky in possession and works his socks off. Thought he was the best player on the pitch until he started to tire. Stendel said in post match he can play as a 6, 8, 10 or wide. Think with his qualities could be useful in number of in-game situations too, either pressing from the start or finding a clever way to break defensive teams down. Suspect he'll come on as a sub on Saturday.
Agree with that. To say he's only been in the country and met his team mates a few days ago, I thought it was an impressive debut. A bit like Kenny Dougall but higher up the pitch.
From the early signs we’ve seen, to compare him to Dougall, is high praise. I’m eager to see either Bahre or Woodrow this weekend, I hope we do but I suppose it depends on their fitness.
What position did he play Rotherham Tyke? And is he left footed as I've heard? I'm hoping we've got someone who can play as an old-fashioned left winger.
I've sort of got my head around what a number 10 is, it's a midfielder who can't tackle. What's a number 6 and a number 8?
I thought he was relatively quiet. Game completely changed when Thiam and Moncur came on. You could tell they were both a class above everyone else on the pitch.
I number 6 is a midfielder who can tackle but only pass 10 yards back or sideways. A number 8 runs round a lot and shoots from 30 yards out. Good number 8’s score a lot (a la Neil Redfearn) but at our level they’re more of a threat to the bloke in row z eating a pie having a bovril. God forbid the modern footballer is asked to do more than 1 thing!
Didn't Scowen wear 6 and Hourihane 8? Probably just because I liked them, but that's pretty much how I'd interpret the positions.
