Lord Raglan- Expectation This is the key word. My expectations are mid table, my dreams are top of table. and thats what keeps me going. yesterday i have said we were poor and i understand the frustration shown, however much of my argument is against the number of people who simply use this has a reason to complain and grumble. I like you have seen Barnsley at most of the games this season, theres been ups and many downs, my anger at times has been immense at players shirking there resposabilities, yesterday wasn't one. The pressure was off and that showed simularly to Oxford in the promotion year. Some on here have used the result for a this is what is wrong with BFC. Guess they thought they'd missed their chance when we managed to stay up and not get relegated. Maybe it wasn't acceptable yesterday but i don't believe the players need hanging for it. West Brom were quicker more clinical and had more desire/reason to win. Our defense were young and mistakes happened. My argument is to not base decisions of what is wrong with BFC on that one game. Our ambition should grow year on year and hopefully allow us to challenge for Premiership football once again. On the point of Colchester my feeling is this could be an Ipswich/Wigan of the Premier. One goog season then struggle and probablwe relegation. Time will tell. We need to build strength and stability over time and that is what seems to be happening
The model for championship survival should try to echo the attitude and skills of the team that played at oakwell today. its crucial that the Hungarians become a force to be reckoned with as they get acclimatised to the championship. every one knows that certain positions need to filled in the team with new signings, but we need someone who has done it before ,a wise old head in midfield to marshall the team, done it before got the t shirt.
Neutrino People have their own reasons for being Supporters of Barnsley, but to state that anyone cannot have an opoinion then that shows just what arrogant Neanderthals people like you are. Everyone has the right to express his or her OWN feelings and opinions, whether or not others agree with it is irrelevant. As I see it this is a public messageboard that caters for everyone, not just the ones that follow the Reds home and away, These fans make their own choice to do so, it does not make their points of view anymore valid than the fan that only goes to selected games. I have been a fan for over 40 years, I no longer go to many away matches but it does not detract from my passion for the club, but by not going to these matches I am being made to feel inferior on these message boards. It is the right of each and every person to express their own opinion without being pilloried for it. PS. I may have made grammatical errors and said things that have already been mentioned on here, in that case consider this post a Windass and totally worthless
The whole issue is one of expectations is it? Who knows what heights Colchester aspired to - they did well; but I'm damn sure Leeds expected promotion and look what happened to them. I'm happy if we set our sights on survival this year and achieved it. Disappointed though I am to lose by such a margin on Sunday I don't think you can assume that proves a lack of ambition by the club, or resignation to another fight for survival next season.
RE: Lord Raglan- Expectation Colchester's aspirations were no higher than ours at the start of the season and after the first few games they were expecting the worst. As the season progressed and their strike partnership flourished their ambitions moved with it. Leeds will have had much higher aspirations than either us or Colchester at the start of the season. They are a 'big' club after all and had just lost a play-off final. Aspirations count for nothing when your defence and strikers are so poor. Hopefully we can get rid of the rubbish in the summer and pick up some decent replacements. I don't think Cureton will have cost Colchester very much in wages, so let's hope we drop as lucky as they did. But for me some of the more experienced players who are slightly over valued by large sections of the Reds support need to go, because they aren't good enough and I worry about their attitude and what effect that has had on the team during Davey's short time as boss. And I think that Davey seems to be thinking along the same lines.
Woo Hoo Chalk one up for us old wrinklies . (nodding2fingers) (nodding2fingers) Don't forget though mate , just 'cos we've been following Barnsley since the sixties , we haven't a clue what we're talking about .
It is beginning to get on my nerves the abuse you get if you dare to say anything that is not following the party line. You dont have to go to every match to be a fan and care, you can still have just as a valid point as one who goes home and away. (banghead) (banghead) (banghead) (banghead)
Oh come on! It's my thirtieth anniversary next year! :'( Not a case of being ambitious just relality!
