They did not, on one occaision at least

On the day the had the blunts on all frequencies. I think someone complained and got a less than satisfactory response. When all's said and done I firmly believe they actively promote the sheffield teams on a regular basis and passively report on BFCwhen they have to. Inexcusable for a publically funded organisation which does the 220,000 people in this borough a disservice.

whats 1575 to do with it?

It's only there because of the very thing we are talking about IMHO.

If we were fairly served by ther deedahs I doubt it would exist.

RE: I'm positive they would cover our match

It's not about whether you are just in the same division

It's got to be based on that where the radio money is concerned. Just as the FL pays everyone the same from 13th to 24th, you can't differentiate between local clubs in the same division.

We all start the new season level pegging, so it can't be based on who's higher than who.

And if we are more successful and get more commentaries it will count for nothing, we will still be paid3.5 times less than the Superclubs by the sounds of it.

    ... Nay!

    :D

I do agree with you that if United / Wednesday & Barnsley were both at home, it's pretty likely that they would give precedence to the Sheffield teams. You make a good case in that respect. But, if do get above them in the league, we will have more a case to argue.

Anyways, I'm done for the evening.

Can you send me another PM with your text number (or just etxt me if you have my number) - I'm not convinced they are getting through.

    RE: Internet radio

Have the club considered Internet Radio would be it. and it does'nt cost much either. just need enough bandwidth. Then we could broadcast our self, and don't have to be dependent by Radio Deh Dah or any other broadcaster

Well done BFC. Thanks for letting us know what we know already i.e Radio De Da are biased towards the Sheffield Clubs.

One thing I would like to know is if we are being offered 26% less, are United and Wednesday having their fee's increased?

I shall certainly be on the phone tomorrow evening. I think we should swamp their switch board.

My personal boycott of Radio De Da has started.

I suppose we could use Ken Bates radio, like Leeds did. Oh, Leeds had to pay THEM £480,000 for the year didn't they? Lucky for Ken though that his radiostation debt got him over the 75% in the CVA too. No doubt that would have been in hisletter to all the chairman though.

C'mon Radio Sheff, you're not being very fair here, sort it out cos you're the only South Yorks station I can get round here.

    Copy of my complaint.

The relative coverage that Barnsley Football Club receives compared to other football clubs in the same and higher, and even lower leagues is much worse and completely disproportionate to the number of fans and need I say liscence payers supporting the club. Whether it be Ceefax, BBC television, Radio 5 live or now crucially Radio Sheffield Barnsley Football Club doesn't appear to be regarded any higher than a disgusting mark on a BBC reporters shoe. The current situation which Barnsley Football Club faces itself in with Radion Sheffield giving preferential treatment and indeed fees to the two Sheffield Clubs is quite frankly an insult to your liscence fee payers in Barnsley. If people in Barnsley any real choice you could guarentee we would be boycotting the licence fee in droves. Whilst fans of Barnsley and the Barnsley licence payer must accept that in shear weight of numbers we must accept fewer matches on Radio Sheffield, what we cannot accept is that our enjoyment of the our clubs games is of less value than those of the Sheffield population. The way the whole of the BBC disregards Barnsley and it's football club as second rate is unnacceptble and this latest insult requires immediate attention from BBC management to ensure the licence payers of Barnsley enjoy a proportionate amount of enjoyment as their Sheffield counterparts, otherwise the BBC in my opinion will be failing in its obligation as a public service broadcaster. I will be writing to my MP Jeff Ennis with a copy of this letter.

    I see.

In that case they'll be monitoring their listener statistics. It'd still be nice to see someone's head roll for this.

Hundreds? I think you're getting a bit carried away.

And one man a radio station maketh not. They'd disregard us if a Sheffield player farted. Quality yes, quantity no. We should hold our heads up and tell them to **** off.
