Update on this. The cricket game against a German touring team http://www.heligolandpilgrimscc.de/cms/ on Saturday May 5th will be played at Netherton CC, near Wakefield. It will be a 40 over game starting at 2pm. There will probably be a trip to the Curry Mahal in Dodworth afterwards, for those that can stomach it. So far I think the following members indicated they may be interested: - @Miserableeaststander @Jimmy cricket @granty the red @JohnSmiths79 @Terry Nutkins although I understand he won't be fit, get well soon lad! Can you make sandwiches? Please can you PM me with a phone number and/or email address if you're still interested. There's another game, against the same opposition, the following day at Stainborough CC (behind the Strafford Arms) followed by local entertainer Simon Whiteley live in the club bar. And yes, I do realise that the Reds are away at Derby earlier that afternoon!
Hi Mate, I’ll let you know on my fitness levels nearer the time. At the moment I’m in severe pain and can’t walk without crutches. Feel slightly better today but still incredibly sore. I’m going to use this as a motivation to get back walking again. I’ll be gutted if I can’t turn out for you. Went to see the GP yesterday who said it’s a 6 week process but you never know. PMA and all that.
I think there's a few more of us on here who could do with a PMA at the moment! Sorry to hear about what's happened, stay in touch and we'll see how it goes. Thanks for your support and hope you recover quickly.
Hi, unfortunately I will be away that weekend for the last game of season. Burton for 2 nights then to the match on Sunday. Also I don’t fit the catogery (over 40s)
Ha ha, over 40's very good! Actually the youngest will be about 14 but I get your point. Hope your weekend is a good one.
Would have loved to have played in this but I'll be playing on the Saturday for my club. Well, I'll be watching it rain. Good luck with everything, just keep Big Abson off the ale until at least 12!
There's 2 of them now, so it will be doubly difficult. The senior one will probably turn out for us, the junior one will be in the first team. If I may ask, which club do you play for? And thanks for your good wishes.
Cheers. The game tomorrow has sadly been cancelled due to a (my favourite word in English) quagmire. The Germans are currently struggling back from Sheffield after a "strenuous"afternoon ha!
The friendly game this afternoon has been cancelled due to a waterlogged ground at Netherton, where we were due to play, but our second team are playing at Stainborough at 1pm this aft. The Sunday game against the Germans starts at 12 noon at Stainborough (behind the Stafford Arms), then on Sunday night we've got live music in the pavilion. Beer will be involved.
We tried to organise a beam back of our game to a big screen at Oakwell, but apparently it was booked up. All welcome at Stainborough CC for a stopping up celebration when you get back from Derby!
