This is shocking, hope you get over this quickly. I’m 42 now and don’t get into town much, but back when I did regularly there was trouble yes, but usually drunken idiots fighting with each other, I didn’t think I’d see the day you’d be at risk of getting mugged in the town centre by criminals premeditation . What’s worrying is the seeming lack of interest from the police. It’s all going to be very well changing the economy of the town into a night time economy with restaurants and cinemas etc and then everyone who goes there at risk of being attacked on their way home. If the council are serious about boosting the town in this way they need to do more it seems than build the infrastructure, they need to get together with other relevant bodies and ensure Barnsley is safe environment for us and our kids to visit and enjoy.

It’s really pissed me off this, I can’t believe a lad gets mugged on his way home, what is going on.

    Sorry to hear this.

There seems to be more and more detritus knocking about the fringes of the town centre these days. It's sad to think that after a night out you saunter home without giving it too much thought but there is a genuine risk out there.

Really sorry to hear this mate. Not a lot more I can say. I always half think about the possibility of getting caught up in drunk idiots scrapping but not something like that happening.

Very, very sorry to read this, this afternoon Jay.
I hope you're ok and that you'll make a full recovery and can put this horrible episode behind you with no I'll effects.
Shame on the police, saddened to read about their responses but not surprised really.
Thoughts are with you Jay. X
