    Some cracking players mentioned there.
    Did Norman Sheridan ever fill in at the back, I don't remember him doing that. And as for Stuart Gray filling in back there, what a waste of his talent because he was a goalscoring midfielder, but it shows what a gifted utility player he was when needed. Josh Scowen reminded me of this when he did it in our promotion season.

    Neil Thompson, Nicky Eaden and Darren Barnard were absolute class. Joe Joyce the first I can remember, lovely bloke, had time for anybody. A proper club man, sadly from a now bygone age.

    My memory of Darren Sheridans last games as full back is playing Huddersfield 3 times in a fortnight.

    He got absolutely roasted in the league and first round of the cup

    Danny then moved him to midfield for the second leg and he kicked lumps out of their main man, Bullock?, and we loved them 3 or 4-0. Payton hat trick.

    Wasn't he playing left back when he scored that sublime chip against Stoke? I don't think I've ever seen such short legs move so fast as his did to get on the end of the through ball!

    Yeah, those players just don't seem to be available compared to then.

    If you go right back to the late 70s, Clarkey, a top striker in his day, and Norman, a top bite yer legster of his day, dropped down divisions rather than opening a pub somewhere.

    They hadn't earned enough money to be too choosey, and fast forward 20 years to the late 90s, you could still get a top player with a season or two left in him like super John and Thompson.
