There's a few obvious ones but the Rodriguez lad has been brilliant! For me it's between him and Sanchez. Obviously Muller and Robben have been very good but you would expect that to be the case.

James Rodriquez for me head and shoulders above the rest and about half the German team.

People saying Messi has been out of sorts: every team has set out with one aim, to stop Messi. He has been kicked up and down, man marked - and yet he doesn't roll around, he isn't theatrical like Robben, he doesn't lash out like Suarez. He has carried Argentina to the final on his own. They wouldn't have beaten Iran and they might have got knocked out by Switzerland if it wasn't for the fact that Messi never gives up and never stops trying. He plays for the team too. Makes Christiano Ronaldo look like the selfish little ***** that he is. Expectations of Messi are so huge that unless he literally played like Diego Maradona did in 1986, he'd be letter people down. If Argentina win the world cup, Lionel Messi is the player of the tournament for me.

Hemsie says it's either Frimpong or Rooney.

It's hard to pick a German for this as they've all been very good & there's not really been a standout player for them where as Brazil, Colombia, Argentina & Holland have all had one stand out player that in many ways has dragged them to the final.

    I'd go Rodriguez too.

Honourable mentions for Neymar, Garay, Mascherano, Muller, Kroos, Lahm, Kompany, Robben, Blind, Ochoa, Marquez, Valbuena & Varane.

A few of the Chile, Algeria, Colombia & Costa Rica lads also impressed me but I've forgot their names already

German keeper, FA approved ticket tout, and the pervert camera men have all played blinders in making this World Cup very good, but it's James Rod by a million miles

Think this tournament has had more emphasis on team rather than individuals.

Another vote for James Rodriguez. And honourable mention for Tim Howard
