The players signed during the 16/17 season would be difficult to beat ..... IF they would have ALL been signed at the beginning of the season ..... and IF the majority weren’t loan signings. In saying that we don’t know how these players will adapt to the Championship. One things for sure ....... the Barnsley squad has never had as much money thrown at it as it has now.
When morais went 433 we were more attacking created more, scored more but conceded more aswell sometimes I think under hecky it all became abit negative concede as few as we could ect. Your right we could have stayed up we only needed one more win, moore missed a open goal v leeds, Davies flapped at a brown hill header v bristol, Townsend was a calamity, heather mills would have been better at center back than matt mills....... I could go on.
We have sold 5.5 million pounds worth of players including Potts 7million it's not money thrown at it by the owners tbf its reinvesting the money made. The two owners who put their hand in their pockets for barnsley f are John Dennis and Patrick cryne.
Why does the performances under Hecky keep getting these negative comments??? Why have some of us to continually remind people what happened when Hecky was here ??? Does it need me to say that Hecky tried to concede as few as possible because as Hecky puts it ‘the goals for the club were sold’. In other words the provider and the striker (Hourihane and Winnall) had been sold so the team based their tactics on defence. Have we to continually remind some folk on here that at that time, towards the end of Heckys reign at Barnsley, he only had Tom Bradshaw at the club who was considered a seasoned striker !?!?! That’s ONE recognised striker available in the squad of a Championship club. Ridiculous.
Even when he had Bradshaw,Adam Armstrong, Marley Watkins as strikers and Robert's, Kent, scowen, yiadom, matty james ect in the squad after Conor and winnall were sold hecky still went 1 up top and managed 3 wins in half a season 2 against relegated sides.
