Exciting times on this one as the namesake of our bar has confirmed! Questions in this thread please ...........
Bumping this for questions ahead of Tuesday. I expect this and the Hignett thread to 'go off' over the next few days.
How does he feel his coaching/managerial career is going? Is there anything he'd do differently if he had to start it from scratch again?
What were his honest feelings going into the 96/97 season? We'd sold Payton and let players like O'Connell, Archdeacon, Butler and Bishop leave. Rammell left to be replaced by Big Dave Regis at the back end of 95/96. Gary Fleming had an injury which most fans knew was bad. We'd only added Wilko who'd done nothing season before at Oldham, Appleby and Thommo deemed passed it by Ipswich up until a few weeks / days before start of season. Jovo and Clint were added if memory serves my correctly just before the 1st real open day due to international clearance issues. I know many journalist's and ex pro's had us down for certain relegation. I personally heard comments made by some of the players who left at the back end of season on the training ground. It would be fair to say they weren't hungry for success and weren't working as hard as the young lads. I also got a up close glimpse at the promotion team. I got permission from Chris Patzelt to interview them whilst doing my GCSE P.E study. I knew in September/October we were going up, never seen a more together squad of players.
Darlington, buying crap from Darlo! Really nice bloke, always had a chat with me. He wasn't the biggest but he was a tough bloke. Didn't have time for players complaining. Early on Clint had a few injury niggles, usually opposition trying to kick lumps out of him. Mary has they called him wasn't always too compassionate to him lol! Lower league North East mentality. Fittest one was Thommo, never seen a bloke work as hard. Always looked like he was on his last legs but kept going. Left peg better than Roberto Carlos.
Ask him what happened to those white underpants Jovo was dancing in and nothing else in the directors box after the Bradford game
I loved Thomson he was a massive part of our success, pure quality. I bumped into him in a gym recently and he hardly looked any different to when he played for us.
When that went in I thought this Premiership malarkey is going to be easy. UEFA cup here we come lol! Never understood why Danny started Shirtliff that day. Was that Tinkler who made that challenge on edge of box? He frustrated the life out of me, he was big unit but at times he had less bite and height than Martin Bullock.
I must admit that whilst all the other interviews have been excellent, and thank you for organising Loko, but this one I am really looking forward to.
Has he ever applied for Barnsley Job when its been available or has he ever been approached Favourite reds Goal
Many fans knew Redders was one of best midfielders in League 1, (championship). Did he get offers from elsewhere whilst with us? Did he ever feel like he'd have to leave to get a chance at Premiership football? Did it knock his confidence when Joe Royle sold him after he'd helped Oldham get promotion to the top flight?
