I think there's a bit of misunderstanding about the role the spreadsheet plays in recruitment and our recruitment policy going forwards. Mick may well want control over transfers, however there's nothing to suggest that he won't have that control. Every club in the world has a limit as to what players they can sign. Our spreadsheet works to identify the best players available that are within our means, and then from that shortlist the manager works with the club to pick and choose which targets they would like to sign. This is how it has worked at most clubs for years. As long as Mick has final say over which of the identified targets come in I can't see why he would not be able to work here. The signings of Knasmullner, Pinillos and Mills show that we're not simply going to buy a bunch of under 21s, and in addition to those the decision to keep Yiadom shows we will keep our best players if we wish to, a decision that probably cost our club £2 million or so. There's evidence that the manager will be backed, so I don't think that our spreadsheet is an obstacle by any means.

Ipswich fan here. Please do take him off us, in fact, we'd probably pay you to take him off us. Things have gone very stale with Mick at the helm here, and he's practically p*ssed off 95% of the fan base here. He'd come in and do a good job in the short term, but he'd ended up annoying you all within a few years (something that Wolves fans warned us about when he first joined). His time is up here, and I expect him to go in the summer (although he did say last week he is working as if he is going to be here next season - i'd be surprised however).

Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season, and if you do appoint Mick, good luck with that also!

Cheers mate - precisely what we need now is a short term fix.

Hehe, sounds familiar... You can rest (un)easy pal, I don't think he'd ever manage Barnsley.

Short term, he's fantastic. In his first 3 and a half years, he saved us from relegation from when we were bottom and looked doomed under Paul Jewell, then he took us within a whisker of the play-offs, and then he get us in the play-offs on a budget of £10k, which was fantastic. Since then however, it's gone very bad. The football has been awful at times (although this season a little better), but he's turned the fans against him and that's only going to end badly.

Ha, hopefully it's only uneasy until the end of June and then he'll depart us!

Well you took Digby off us, so least we could do is take Mick off you.

Payback for loaning us Jonathan Walters all those years ago to not score a goal ha. Maybe we still owed you for the 2000 play off final defeat, which showed both sides in a great light both with the match quality and fans behaviour mingling outside no bother.
